I've been saying this for years, these wide sprint finishes are far more dangerous than narrow twisty finishes. These narrow twisty finishes it is always strung out where's finishes like today allow people to bunch up.
On another note, one thing that drives me mad is when lead out riders just sit up infront of everyone, that last crash was caused by that.

Are there any roads in the world about 200k long, with no bends or corners, just straight as a rule? Asking for a sprinter or two.

It looked like a lot of teams wanted to play today, maybe because of the easy pace earlier, and that created a lot of chaos too.

I think we should accept that there is no safe route when the top sprinters in the world are going at each other at 70 km/h. Crashes are bound to happen. Wide roads, tight roads, no turns, many turns... They will happen.
You put proper sanctions on breaking the rules in sprints. Now they just incentivize taking any stupid risk possible.

I agree until the 3km mark. After that, he must leave front of the peloton. If all gc riders act like Vingegaard, sprint stages will be carnage all the time.
LOL

2 days ago people were bitching about him staying off the front with 1 K to go :D

Also, gaps can still appear in such a chaotic finale, and Pogacar was far, far back... of course Vingegaard sticks to the front.

Am really going to miss Cavendish's post-stage analysis of the sprint stages. Often, the best thing about them.
