i was actually kind of wondering why riders with an outside chance of winning like Mohoric or Madouas would go in the break on stage 1 but then i remembered, oh yeah, there's a ton of KOM points up for grabs today

Not been many been first stages like this.

Peloton lost 2 minutes on this climb as well and he still getting dropped.

But this is the worst start possible for Cav. Tough stage profile-wise on the first day. He probably needs a few days to get into it... but this is bad nonetheless.
