They may aswell ease up a bit, the French guys will make it on anyway at some point and I don't think they're a big enough threat such that they need to be tired out purpeously.

This is reminiscent of the epic long stage on lumpy terrain to Le Creusot which was savagely raced after the peloton took a rest day on the bike the day before.

What I don’t understand is that no one goes in the break on sprint days because they know it will be controlled - they must have known UAE are going for the win today so going in the break is pointless. Unless UAE fooled people.

You've got to try something. Some teams seem content just to be in the race, and that's unfortunate.

No risk it, no biscuit.
