Good thing about having no break is that route planners will have to think twice in the future by creating these boring flat stages. They probably won't though.

The question is; how many of those were allowed to get away because they were so far down?

In the cases of the 2001 TdF and 2009 Giro, the GC situations ahead of the last week were still heavily influenced by big breakaways having taken massive time earlier in the races.

It's also funny to see Pereiro and Geoghegan Hart being on the list due to performances from the year before the comebacks they are mainly known for.

I'm trying to get some work done so am missing stuff - what was Bobke offended by?
Tejay was explaining why he felt the mountain points should be set up so that riders besides the GC contenders might win the polka dot jersey. He mentioned guys like Virenque. He was talking generally and said "you don't know what these riders go through." Bobke could only hear an accusation.
