Has Pogacar ever been overtrained or out of shape?

He's usually pretty *** after the tour for his standards and somehow rebuilds for Lombardia while being dropped at the middle of the race a few weeks before. (If memory serves correctly)

As to the over training, I remember having read somewhere that he used to overtrain at altitude, but it might just have been one of mou's claims about San Milan being a fraud.

I just strikes me as a very risky idea to just send him to do another GT, without having planed for that at all in the buildup.

Sant Apollynaire is categorized as 3rd, but it was Basque country or pariz Nize, wpudl be 1st. Really he is second.

Quick linguistic question:

Doesn't "corp" mean, well... "corpse"? That gives "Côte de Corps" a rather macabre name...
I think it's also used as short for "corporate", which also makes it weird, but not as bad as corps :grinning:

But I wonder what the real translation actually is

No. He's been at the end of a peak, like at World's last year, but he was still better than nearly everyone. It's crazy.
True. Many expected Pogacar to be weaker there after a busy season and yet he beat Mads Pedersen in the sprint for the last podium place. One of the many times when the Slovenian said afterwards that he was surprised about his own capabilities, as I recall.

I think it means 'body' more generally, and the body to mean 'the group' or 'the whole thing' like in Esprit de Corps.

I would agree if it was any other guy than him - he is not normal.
They need to look at it as how much is there is lose. Vuelta is two weeks after the Olympics and finishes 3 weeks before the Worlds I think. There's some big climbing already on stages 4 and 6 - if he's already smashed everyone to shreds there then just keep going as easily as possible; if he's not good then pull out and have a few more weeks off before the Worlds. As cycling fans we understand that the Triple Crown Giro-Tour-Worlds is historically the ultimate thing, but how cool would it be to take a chance at going beyond even that?
