is it kamikaze to go to the line with 12km to the line 2v1? How is that not just a stupid excuse? I dont hate anyone in the peloton but you cant convince me 12km to finish 2v1 and not pulling is intelligent racing man :tearsofjoy: sorry but thats just defensive riding on another level nothing else sorry and impossible for me to cheer for :tearsofjoy: Oh well
If Vingegaard had spent energy taking turns, Pogacar attacks and drops him on the final gravel section.

I can't believe you don't understand this. I may have overestimated you.

I wasn't saying they should be full out attacking. I was suggesting that Jorgenson contributing a few turns while Pog was pushing on and Remco was chasing behind, meaning that Vingegaard didn't have to contribute a turn but could extract gain, rather than nuking the move and gaining nothing on anybody, was worthwhile.

Gaining time is always good. You'd think they'd have learned their lesson from 2020.
That's your opinion, which you're clearly free to have.

Visma apparently didn't agree. As they're clearly free to.

Wow, MvdP is really bad. He was not great last year either but way better than this, helping to deliver Philipsen to the line at least.
I think he has been leading him out, it's not his fault phillipsen hasn't got the legs.

Mvdp not the mvdp we know, but I suspect that's the plan. Like last year

Vingegaard had a domestique who could take turns on his behalf, and so needn't contribute himself, enabling him to extract more benefit for the same effort expended.

But he had to end some leadouts early while last year he was able to do monster pulls until close to the line. Now very weak sprint.

Lets face it, its a carbon-copy of the past two editions. Pogi trying ang trying, Vingegaard shutting down and win it in the 3rd week. I honestly give this now 50%+. Will check the odds after the stage, and probably put something on Vingegaard. He is much stronger than expected. Much stronger.

I think people overrate the Pog is wasting energy narrative. A stage like this is much harder for a 60kg rider like Vingegaard. It's not like Vingegaard was soft pedaling when Pogacar or Evenepoel attacked. He went all out to shut them down.
If Vingegaard has his usual 3rd week peak he is going to win. But that's not a given and UAE should use any given opportunity to test his legs.

Team with most saves from disaster = Visma? (1) Tratnik's bike for Vingo. (2) Jorgenson bringing Vingo back on Pog's last hard attack.

Gaining time on Remco though, not Pogacar and increasing the chance you lose time to Pog by tiring out Jorgensen.

big fan of the 2024 Tour de French GarbageTeams, can we get Credit Agricole or Jean Delatour back to take a stage win
