DSM, Arkea, Intermarche, Astana, Jayco and Total Energies all on the board so far, crazy.

My money is on RAGT Semences for a stage win in the 3rd week at this rate
hearing rumors that SAUR Sojasun have been given an exemption to enter the state to Le Lioran

The first GC attack last year was Vingegaard on Marie Blanque. Then the next day Vingegaard tried a far distance attack on Tourmalet while Pogacar wheelsucked him all day.
Maybe some people were expecting a bigger gap between Jonas und Pogi but I don't see why Jonas should be the favourite from now on. He was clearly gaped and gassed on the Galibier stage and his best chance to crack Pogi would be the next weekend...but it isn't 2022 or 2023...Jumbo doesn't have the team to pressure Pogi the whole stage or launch Jonas.

Kelderman not as good as last year, WvA miles away from top form. No Kuss. No Kruijswik. UAE clearly dominant and that will depress also other teams from doing something. Of course Jonas and Remco will try to find weakness, but this will be a totally different playbook from the last two years.

my money would be even on Bora more then Jumbo to try something because they have literally nothing to loose as they said all year long that they are in it to win it. But Roglic doesn't seem to be in the shape to do something anyway...that he is this close in GC is really flattering.

It was too early because there was a gravel section left, where Pogacar would definitely attack
"It isn't worth riding unless the stage finishes on the steepest climb" - that interview.

From that edition when Jumbo-Visma lost the Tour in the mountains because they were so busy trying to not lose that they forgot to try to win.

Guys with zero chance of winning the sprint, like Healy, working for the other guys, it remains one of cycling's marvelous mysteries. Then Lutsenko goes all out to reel back Stuyven, to be dead in the sprint. Gotta love it, lol.

I think Healy tries to make most races he enters fun... definitely one of the rare younger guys who rides more with his heart than head.

Depends on who you think your competition is. Their biggest competition is Pog. The others are guys you'd expect if Vingegaard is fully healthy and ok, he takes minutes on in the mountains anyway. I would not care if I gain time on Remco, Roglic, CRod etc as I don't consider them a threat. I care about not losing time to Pog so not working with him on a stage like this that favours him massively is smart.

Considering the stage, working with Pog increases chances of Jorgensen getting tired but also because or the gravel, any mechanical incident is increased and you're distancing your other teammates so you could lose a ton to Pogacar if something goes wrong there.

There's minor benefits here but too high of a risk that you end up losing time to your main threat.
They lost the 2020 Tour because they misjudged who their competition was.

Reducing the field of competition is always good.

And it was 12km from the finish. Are you telling me they were so afraid that Matteo Jorgenson is incapable of riding 12km while doing a few turns when they aren't even going faster than the breakaway?

Typical older sprinter trajectory I guess. Better rider overall, better climber, bigger engine, but his sprint speed is declining.
Yes, but in specific I was also referring to the stage. I just wondered that he responded the attacks in the end, when it was quite clear they ride for "nothing"

Lol.

Why are you even watching cycling?
He's not wrong, though. It was a good enough stage, but there was really only one moment where it looked like something interesting might happen, and that was when Remco attacked.

Vingegaard had a domestique who could take turns on his behalf, and so needn't contribute himself, enabling him to extract more benefit for the same effort expended.

I can't believe you don't understand this. I may have overestimated you.
has this happened before? a leader with a support rider not taking turns while attacking with another leader

Pogacar would not take turns if Jonas would not and so only Jorgenson would work
