The problem is that we likely won't see it because of some crash but what I do know is that while Roglič has produced some great climbing performances he has never done a performance like Vingegaard last year on Plateau de Beille.

I agree that we didn't see it, due to a crash and that was indeed unfortunate outcome. Still, we are back.

Mathieu van der Poel is quite the showman. He put Thibau Nys's face on the cockpit to motivate himself.

Weather report says wind from W/SW when the peloton turns North from Lens.

Will be interesting whether it impacts the result.

Wouldn't be surprised by a major crash and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Roglic goes down in it.

Will be a chaotic stage, historically when starting in France, its been mayhem.

Be safe. Good stage.

Quickly googles ‘was Slovenia behind the iron curtain’.

Hmm, interesting. That poster in another thread was right though, if the Yougos were still together they would have some cracking sports teams.

Anyway I do think this is a fair trade off for the sprint teams, they get a chance at the yellow jersey and in return their world championship final stage gets nerfed. I do think the opening sprint stage will become a dying breed though, they will say it’s for safety reasons but in reality it’s just more entertaining on one of the most watched days of the year.

Danish TV2 did a calculation of total ride time at the Tour for Pogacar and Vingegaard over the last 4 years:

Pogacar: 328 hours 28 minutes 5 seconds
Vingegaard: 328 hours 28 minutes 2 seconds

That's a 3 second difference, over 4 years and 13,776 km

Happy Tour everyone

Crosswinds and expected showers (late afternoon) on the most nervous stage of the entire year.

Fun times ahead :p

Vingegaard must have felt a little under-dressed. Being the only one in the front row wearing regular team kit.
