First stages are often completely useless. I thin the Tour should make every first stage a super hard one so a race day isn't wasted. Like the last two editions.

Anyway I do think this is a fair trade off for the sprint teams, they get a chance at the yellow jersey and in return their world championship final stage gets nerfed. I do think the opening sprint stage will become a dying breed though, they will say it’s for safety reasons but in reality it’s just more entertaining on one of the most watched days of the year.
