I think so, yes, Peloton obliterated but in the end nothing happened on GC. Great victory for Pello Bilbao, though

I don't get the thing with Jorgensson in the break. The only way UAE let him go is if he's undercover wearing an Arkea jersey.

What I don't understand is how Jorgenson suddenly inspires so much fear that he's considered the Roglic of 2025.

Jorgenson finished half an hour behind last year. He couldn't even keep up with Remco.

In Dauphiné, there were already doubts about whether he could fight the podium at the Tour, but now, if he wins 5 minutes tomorrow, he'd be a contender to win the Tour, when once again he couldn't match Remco's pace in the mountains.

Furthermore, Jorgenson himself said a few months ago that he didn't see himself leading a Giro. He'll lose 1-2 minutes on each high-mountain stage. Last year, there were days when he lost significantly more.

It is a pretty big deal there. The French language TDF guide I bought has a 2-page spread on past Bastille Day winners. But it’s been pretty bleak in that regard lately. Barguil was the last one in 2017.

A.Yates didn't look good at all until now. Sivakov or Soler? Last year with Almeida and an in-form A.Yates UAE had been nearly untouchable. This year could be a different story..

That's my point. It's a pretty big deal everywhere: come le quatorze, each paper and website will say "watch out for the French on the 14th" yet nothing ever comes of it. Yes, Barguil won in 2017 but with the amount of French riders participating, it only makes sense they win every once in a while on the 14th. But it's not like they manage to win more often on that particular date.

They won 2 or at most 3 times each decade from the 1950s through 2010, so as you say it never was that common, even when French cycling was at a much higher level.

I would love to be proven wrong, but I don't see him winning the stage or the combativity award tomorrow. He took a jump a couple days ago before fading quite quickly.

If this was a classic, all anyone would be asking is if this a Remco vs Tadej showdown. And one of them would go with 45km to go (Pog would win).

There is not a single climb tomorrow that should be classified any higher than a cat 3 in Stage 10.

Holy climb inflation. Yet, there are also about 5 other climbs that should be classified.

Pogi is whining about the transfers and UAE say now that Almeida's gone home, it's time to reconsider strategy. Soler had a tumble too on Saturday so it'll be "keep your friends close and your enemies closer still". Got a feeling no GC action until late in the day.
If Red Bull/Bora don't do something soon they'll be getting the talk from management. Roglic and Lipo are 3 minutes down so ride some French guys coat tails and get up the road. Shame thatVauquelin does n't have a strong team as he would be the obvious "French pick of the Bastille Day".

10th straight day of racing, I think this will be one of the hardest stages of the Tour.

Visma can't away for the two main mountain ranges, they will need to use this stage already, especially now with Almeida out of the race. Jorgenson will attack on a climb before the finish but Pogacar will react and put seconds into everyone including a few into Jonas.

Indeed. I doubt many riders in the race (if any) have ever done 10 straight days of racing.

Visma are going to kill everyone here (well, everyone other than Pog and maybe some other riders with good legs). With Almeida out and considering how they raced the first week's stages, they'll drop the hammer. I don't agree with people who believe GC action will only happen later, i.e. this sort of terrain is perfect to utilize team strength - especially with how Visma like racing the TdF (fast and hard).
