Abrahamsen has been lucky they found the right rhythm and Schmid was so determined not to let MVDP catch them so the UNO-X guy could just have that little more freshness.

Most of the sites I read, podcasts I listen to have one or 2 things in common.. Nobody can make sense of the away from the action sprints.. Race was won ,GC group rolling across together and you got guys sprinting for what looks like no reason.. Real head scratcher..Guys in @15-30+ place sprinting, life or death, like they are going for the stage win..??

I don‘t know, there were only five riders up the road on a breakaway stage, it was obvious that a lot of teams were unhappy with the situation. The guys who attacked would have probably also tried if nobody peed although they might have had a harder time getting past the roadblock. Of course you don’t want to go full gas all day but you can‘t just literally pull your dong out and everything is neutralised.

What's overlooked is how strong the initial break of three was in the stage. Riders attacked throughout the stage and only two could reach the leaders who were front from kilometre zero.

From this angle, it appears the cop was the greater danger to the two riders contesting the sprint, though kudos to him for doing his job effectively.

IMHO the last thing pro road cycling needs ATM is glorifying riders racing injured. It's due to metal plate and screws, on why this is possible, bone itself still needs a couple of weeks to heal.

The doctors at Uno-X who cleared him to race are, in fact, doctors, and would not have cleared him to race if the bone hadn't actually healed.
I believe their judgement.

Saved someone getting the publicity for a cause he was trying to promote. The guy was far behind Abrahamsen and Schmidt, and a long way ahead of Van der Poel. It was irresponsible behaviour, but in no way would have caused carnage.


(And re-donning my mod hat, we are not going to start a discussion about whether the cause he was trying to promote is a valid one)

I don't believe for a second Abrahamsen is some sort of nature freak, on where his collarbone healed in quarter to half of the required time. It's only due to metal plate and screws, on why this is possible, not due to healed bones. On top of that it's said he won a stage in week four, from injury, that means he was racing at the Tour already at around two weeks after the injury, now that is just insane. It's just not medically possible, on what you claim. Unless, as said, Abrahamsen is some sort of freak of nature. He isn't.

As for protesters and the world we live in, Tour likely indeed is a viable stage for that. What needs to change is riders shouldn't be endangered, in the process, it can be done without that. In the end, just as when it comes to environment and similar, cycling eventually had to take a political stance on it it's not immune to it. Eventually a political stance will need to be taken in regards to mentioned incidence, there is just no way around that, one way or another, it will be done.
