Visma’s plan blows up in their face…now it’ll be interesting to see what happens on Hautacam

Soulor from this side is a strong category 1 climb (not far from typical HC/1 threshold). The GC group slowed down somewhat - on this hard climb they didn't make up even a minute over the best guys from the breakaway.

Looked like a short term crisis. He's been climbing fine the past 5 km

Don't know WTF happened though

At some point the peleton upped the pace noticeably but they slowed down since then. Remco will leak way more time on the last climb when Vingo or Pogi go all out.

I don't understand this at all. They know they weren't going to distance Pog on this climb, this is a long term strategy to put pressure on over this 3-day mountain block. Folks here are talking about Jorgenson staying close--that may not matter to them at all, as I wouldn't expect him to stay with Yates and Kuss when they're making it hard.

I think if Pogi feels well Narvaez will nuke the start of the climb and then it's Vinge vs. Pog and all thoughts of saving Jogenson will be out of the window.
Yeah, but Visma will have to test if he actually feels good either way IMO.

But they will obviously wait for the last 6K of Hautacam, this and the next climbs are just preparation.

This is only the first of 3 GC days in a row, nobody will go long range today.

If Pogacar is feeling anyway good today he has to attack on the final climb. Jorgensen could lose minutes if UAE start drilling early on Hautacam and shell him out the back. Unless he was sandbagging earlier which looks unlikely.
