This has to be the dumbest chasse patat in the history of chasse patates.

I’m more curious about his interview after the stage than the sprint.
Van Aert has never been a very smart rider. It's just more obvious now that he doesn't have the physical capability anymore to pull off a stunt like this.

the break still has a chance to make it, so I honestly don't think it was a bad idea from van Aert. Problem is that he wasn't strong/determinded enough.

There's obviously no need to save himself for Vingegaard's 1000-1 chance to still win the Tour.

Ofc it wasn't, but the rest of the peloton is asleep at the wheel

Captain America is the new De Plus...or even Gert Steegmans...although I think Gert was more of a lead-out man. Quinn will be given a new role next TDF

Unfortunately that wasn't 2022 Wout who could seemingly leave the peloton in the dust or bridge across to breaks at will. I still remember Simmons shaking his head at one point as he desperately tried to hang on to Wout's wheel.

Anyway, he gave it a go and between Ineos riding on the earlier climb and Wout on this there's actually been more action so far than I expected on this stage.

Really hoping that Milan gets a flat, caught up, flat out gets dusted so Quinn Simmons can go off again at the press conference!! Well worth it!!

That team radio message from Tudor about the finish was next to useless. I'm sure they're not all that uniformative, but it doesn't help with crashes in a frantic finale.

This front group have done some hard riding . . . still out front given that the peloton hasn't been lolly-gagging the last 30 km. Still doomed of course

With light and new rain, the finale in town could be chaos, as it hasn't rained enough to wash away all the oil and dirt on the streets so corners could be like riding on soap.
