I think when Visma look back on why they lost this Tour, Jorgenson not being able to hack it in the top 5 will be a main reason.

Him not being a threat at all means it's mano-a-mano, and Pogacar wins that 9 out of 10 times.

Visma needs to either improve him significantly - or sign a better lieutenant - before they try to win the Tour again.

Lipowitz is not going to hang on for sure, still he's the smartest guy to get a headstart
He could have had a bigger headstart without having to do a single turn in the wind himself after he caught up with the Pogacar group.

Lipo also not strong enough. He has to put in more pace to get to the front. But I think it's still more playing it safe to not blow up which is understandable
Lipo usually runs in 'donkey mode'. He knows how many watts he can sustain and he rides at exactly that wattage no matter what happens around him.

Kinda sad to see that big group lolling along after the race had exploded earlier.

And Lipowitz attack probably neutered Roglic's chance to move up to 4th, because I think Roglic will need to help Lip hang on for the upper part of the climb.

Visma had done everything right in isolating Pogacar and then for some reason undone all their good work by Jorgensen getting separated from Vingegaard which was amateur stuff. Only to be outdone by Gall who made an even worse error in allowing O'Connor ride away.

Yes and that will be good enough to almost seal the podium. To win the stage he has to be still in front when Vinge or Pogi attack 3-4 times. Only chance to win is when the stall after multiple attacks because no one wants to bring the other to the line.

Yeah, Lipowitz is slowly cracking but so far he's lucky that the pace behind is also completely meh.
This will probably still end as a Pogacar win, either because Visma decide to tune it up or Narvaez does a leadout.

I think Visma rode a good race, it's easy for us to criticize them on a forum but if JV didn't have the legs then it is what it is.
