I'm being optimistic here, but Pogacar did take longer than usual to react to those attacks in the valley.
All the more reason soft pedalling in the valley and letting dropped domestiques do a meh pace instead of keeping the pressure on is a big tactical error.

Any chance that Pog just lets Visma pace to bring the gap down while waiting for the final steep portion and Narvaez launches him for the stage win ?

Yeah that attack is now not looking that good if you don't even have O'Conner level on this climb. The question is is he just measuring his effort. But then it would be on the team car to tell him to give it a few more watts

But what can they do? They can try to increase the gap to third in the GC, but Vingegaard doesn't seem to regard that as important.
Why bother on Madeleine then at all? All they did was blow everyone up including their own team and then give up.

If you're going to half ass try it, just don't bother as all they did was chase their own guy on Jorgensen down when maybe he could have won the stage.

The battle for yellow might be a repeat of last year but at least the battle for the other gc positions is much more entertaining this year
I mean Lipowitz has been pretty consistently 3rd best apart from 2 Vuelta style days where Roglic could hammer it.
