Aside from veering into the rider on his right (mistake #1), why did Coquard take both feet off his pedals in the middle of a sprint?! I'm sure it was a reaction to keep his balance after he bumped into the other rider, but a pro just can't do that with riders sprinting all around him.

Imo, and experience when you get the plane of your bike changed dramatically the energy just counters like snow ski bindings and you just come out.. My own very, very personal opinion is Look Keo come disengaged easier than Shimano, and saying that I couldn't ever feel confident in Speedplay, but obviously personal because many heavy, heavy hitters, sprinters use the lollipop pedals with confidence.
When you get jarred like that it's like a mini high side, and he didn't crash just came unclipped..and suddenly instead of 5 possible points of contact, both feet gone, relying on hands and butt, until he clips back in.. Treacherous at that speed.. Yes Jasper beefed it, but decent save by French floundering fool!!!
Greg Lemond, Pedro Delgado Time pedals with Time shoes, white w red Velcro closures, didn't come unclipped often when you crashed!! Like old school leather buckle up snow ski boots and bindings that broke your leg or knee rather than detach!!
