Affini is always very underwhelming in the ITTs of Grand Tours.
Yeah I don't think he'll do anything special, it was very much caveated by 'if he performs as he did in his best TT ever'. Protecting Vingegaard is more important than maybe coming third, though, so I'm not even sure he will go all out.

Jorgenson maybe an outside bet for third? Struggling to look past the big three.

shame it isnt 66km, a proper ITT. It would be Luxembourg 1992 all over again

Of course Remco is the big favorite but for a Luxembourg 1992 effort he would need to take at least 90 seconds (Big Mig took 3 minutes on 2nd).

Yep. I could easily see that on a longer ITT

Thinking Remco 40-60 seconds ahead of first tomorrow. Gaps would expand if this were twice as long

Is it crazy to think that Visma could top 10 this TT with five riders on a good day? (Vingegaard, Jorgenson, Van Aert, Affini, Campenaerts). Will surely make for some interesting racing next year after they'll have smashed the stage 1 TTT.

Really bad luck that the two best TT specialists crashed out on stage 1. Especially gutted for Ganna who still doesn't have a Tour stage podium to his name.

I'd pick Armirail as best non-GC rider for tomorrow.

Would love to see Van Aert going full gas and podiuming tomorrow just for the drama, but he really doesn't seem to be in good enough shape at the moment.

I think the Dauphine was an exact dress rehearsal for the Tour and so expect a similar result for the ITT. But just like the Dauphine it will tell us nothing about the GC potential of the principals.

I doubt Pogacar will try to ride whichever way it was that made him so weak on the flat in the Dauphiné. So I have no clue where he'll end up, but would not be surprised if he ends up surprising some people.

Remco seems obvious, but it won't be enough to take the jersey.

2 minutes on Skjelmose, 4 on THJ and 6 on VPP seems too much imo.

Okay, he may catch VPP.
Skjelmose should be feasible in 2min. He was close to 2min during the Olympics and the course is easier now.

In Dauphine he was 1min 44sec faster than THJ. Now it’s completely flat, almost twice the distance and Evenepoel in better shape. 4min is a lot though, you might be right.

APP definitely isn’t possible.

Oh, sorry, I mixed VPP and APP.
He shouldn't catch APP, I agree.
He may not catch the Dane and the Norwegian, but he will most probably see one, if not both, which is still some advantage.

It's the opposite, an easier TT (totally flat) is worse for big gaps. TTs around 50 kph is where Remco can gain a lot. Not in 55 kph TT.

Sure, but due to his form on the bike he might gain more time on flat sections compared to Skjelmose than uphill.
I don't think so (uphill=3-4% gradients) and there isn't any indicator Remco is not in his best shape ever (at least until now). He was strong today, he just got greedy in the end (when he attacked) since he was completely cooked.
