I'm 100% sure that 'star' riders don't have a clause in their contracts that forces them to do the Tour.
And about the Roglic argument - he did the Tour because this was HIS decision.

Remco should 100% go to giro to try and win. For the tour Bora should send their climbers. Pelizzari, lipoproteins, Roglic.

Giro would be very big win for remco and he won't win the tour in 2026 no matter what
I would be very surprised if he wins the Giro (but he has of course better chances in the Giro)

If he rides the Giro, he needs to make a tough decision. And that decision is to skip LBL.
Doing Tirreno and San Remo, then long altitude camp before Liege and Giro is a pretty traditional Giro-prep. One can even throw in Tour of the Alps like Nibali did back in the days.
From Liege to Giro start there are 13 days, even time for a short altitude camp, like some do between Dauphine/NC and the Tour. 3 weeks altitude before Liege and 7-8 days after sounds pretty good to me.

Competition matters, not parcours. A fully fit Remco can destroy del Toro in the high mountains the same way he did it in Lombardia.
1. One day races are not stages.
2. Del Toro will improve next year
3. I wasn't even talking about Del Toro. I was really thinking about Vingegaard who also was killed in the ECRR. As you can see, zero correlation.

Of course Vingegaard is the man to beat. But with some more TTs in the Giro Evenepoel will have much better chances than in the Tour.

I would say that 14 before 15 is okay.
Also 19 on itself is bad, but positioned before 20 makes it good enough. Good way to make this final 2 stages.
Agreed on 18, but if you're gonna have these stages as 19 and 20, whatever you do wouldn't change it much.

Skimming through the route, it looks very challenging, clearly benefiting the climbers. The five French mountain ranges all have at least one tough stage. One ITT won't be enough to turn the tide. I'll give one to five stars for the toughness of the stages.

  • Stage 1***: TTT with individual times counting. That means the team will have to work together until the final km, where they can launch their leader(s). On the final climb of Montjuiïc we'll see the weird situation of leaders of the same team sprinting uphill - e.g. Evenepoel and Lipowitz.
  • Stage 2**: Hilly stage on a circuit, again with the climb of Montjuïc, where Criquielion won his world title.
  • Stage 3***: The Pyrenees come really early. The only serious climb is more than 60 km before the finish, so this probably won't mean that much for the GC.
  • Stage 4***: Middle mountains to Foix, probably a small group sprint, or an outsider who gets away.
  • Stage 5*: Flat stage, first chance for the sprinters.
  • Stage 6*****: This is the toughest stage of week 1. The Tourmalet is followed by an unknown MTF, which gets steep in the final 5 km.
  • Stage 7*: Flat.
  • Stage 8*: Flat.
  • Stage 9**: Hilly stage.
  • Stage 10****: Middle mountains. Tricky stage in the Massif Central with some short, steep climbs in the final. The penultimate one is a chance to attack in the final 20 km.
  • Stage 11*: Flat.
  • Stage 12*: Flat.
  • Stage 13**: Hilly.
  • Stage 14****: Tough stage in the Vosges with a succession of classic climbs. The final climb, 6 km before the finish, is tough enough to create gaps between the GC riders.
  • Stage 15*****: Jura stage with two tough climbs. This one will certainly matter for the GC.
  • Stage 16****: ITT of 26 km with a gentle climb, descent and flat. A specialist can take a minute here, but that won't be enough compensation for the loss in the mountains.
  • Stage 17*: Flat.
  • Stage 18***: Alpine stage where Luis Ocaña won, but not so tough. Good chance for a breakaway.
  • Stage 19*****: Short stage to the classic climb of L'Alpe d'Huez. Pantani's record might be in danger.
  • Stage 20*****: Queen stage with three major climbs. The Galibier is the toughest and highest climb of this Tour. Then comes the mysterious backside of L'Alpe d'Huez - the dark side of the moon. The contrast will be big when they finish among the packed crowds on the final stretch of the Alpe again - forty years after Hinault and LeMond.
  • Stage 21**: Final stage to Paris. The Montmartre climb is in it again, but a bit further from the finish, so it's feasible for a sprinter who can handle a hill.

EDITED: Apparently I saw the wrong version of stages 5 and 6 when I first posted this. That's now adjusted.

  • Stage 5****: The Tourmalet comes 100 km before the finish, but the final is flat. Reduced sprint or breakaway.
  • Stage 6*****: This is the toughest stage of week 1. The Aubisque is followed by an unknown MTF, which gets steep in the final 5 km.
You are looking at the wrong route.

I hope Remco doesn't do the Tour. He is a star rider and shouldn't be forced to only 'participate' for the sponsors.
Full focus and all in for the Giro and Vuelta.
If he wants to be a GT star, he has to race the Tour.
This phrase you're using can be applied to VDP, who doesn't aspire to be a GT star.

Vingegaard will win the Giro. Losing the Giro is worse than losing the Tour because they would send him to the Giro with the obligation to win.But he'll go to the Tour.

Red Bull isn't going to pay him 6 million to not go to the Tour.
For the minor GTs, they have Lipowitz, they wouldn't have made this signing.

Remco is signed because he is remco and because bora has suddenly loads of money to throw at riders.

He should do the races he agrees with the team with the intention of winning.

The giro is a great race and he can win. He doesn't have giro in his palmares, even a podium. Why should he go ride around another boring predictable tour de France for 4th place on GC at best? The team has lipovitz for that
