Surely it's more enjoyable than watching SDW win all the stages.

Great ride by Bauernfeind. Fortune favours the brave.
There is that, but it would be better if their tactics weren't so inexplicably embarrassing. It's not a good look.

But yes, great ride by Ricarda, well deserved.

It's not like the other teams are making themselves likeable this Tour though.
True. But everyone is focused on the strongest team. The attacks were immediately shut down with Reusser, they let 1 go and give her 1:30. She was strong enough to let Kopecky sprint for the win, but this was not the best tactic.

For me, no actually it isn't. If they do everything (or at least a lot) right, and they can't manage to close the gap or whatever, fair play to the winner and it was a good race. But this is just frustrating to watch, and I don't even care if SD Worx win...

Vollering docked 20 seconds? GC standings show her at 1:03 instead of 43 seconds behind Kopecky.

You guys are complaining every time when SD Worxs wins. Be happy that they don't win every stage.
They already won two stages and have the yellow and green jersey. So I would say that is a pretty good Tour for them right now.

And why is this bad cycling? Imaging they would have won all stages right now, that would be very bad for women cycling and probaply not enjoyable to watch.

No surprise that Vollering was docked 20 seconds - I wish the post-race coverage would interview a wider cross-range of riders.

Nah - If the remaining teams adopted collective team-work during the season then SD Worx would not have won 50 races - This would apply moreso in stage races - This is not just about the TDF.

No, its enjoyable when teams are not riding like complete imbeciles. And women's cycling is an egregious offender when it comes to riding like headless ducks.

I think alot of the tactics in this race are that SDworx aren't that concerned about chasing more stage wins, neither are Movistar but they arent getting the criticism for it,so after Lotte took stage 1 & Lorena took hers, why waste energy chasing down breakaway riders who arent GC threats ? it's all about the Tourmalet. AvV vs Demi everything else is just about getting to the foot of that first climb.

They definitely did

Is this like that one time in the men's Vuelta, were Trek announced that Ellisonde had abandonded, and it was actually Reijnen? Though, there doesn't appear to be any FDJ riders who are DNF.

And PCS just has her listed both having finished, and not having finished...

Canyon have been the most aggressive team this TdFF so far, plenty of fruitless attacks but it's still great to see.
Typical Kasia behaviour but seems to be spreading to the rest of the team... with more success than Kasia has had of late from it!
Women's cycling. Worse than peak Jumbo Visma/Moivistar
May I remind you that the Volta a Portugal starts shortly if you have yet to have your fill of tactical idiocy?

Love it when SD Worx rides so stupid and lose.
In some respects you can't really blame them for riding as they do, as they've been trying to defend yellow and win stages but without doing any work and, so far, other teams have been happy to help, pacing the bunch until right near the end and making it easy for them. For all the criticism of today's bunch for their being foolish, other teams kind of forced SD Worx' hand into doing the chasing, and they failed at it. Wiebes has gone home and Kopecky isn't gonna work for anybody else regardless, plus the closer we get to the weekend the more they have to be wary of expending too much of Demi's energy. Now, what unfurled once Reusser and Lippert popped off the front is pretty bizarre and inexplicable, but not too much against other teams calling SD Worx' bluff before that.
Fantastic! Another great finale :)

More proof that the Lotto Thuringen is a star making race.
TBF if they beefed up a stage or two it would be almost a perfect proving ground, since it has a bunch of tough, gritty racing, usually a couple of cobbled hills on stages with climbs like Balsamine or Steiler Wand (Meerane is actually in Sachsen but has featured in the race a few times) or in the area around Erfurt, and a punchy stage with the circuit at Dörtendorf with the Hankaberg. Give us a proper Thüringer Wald stage with some longer, more significant climbing and there's something for everyone - as things stand you can learn about pretty much everything the women's calendar can throw at you in some respect from the race, and much of the race course is perfect as a proving ground for the kind of routes you see in all the major one day races as well as testing recovery.
Vollering docked 20 seconds? GC standings show her at 1:03 instead of 43 seconds behind Kopecky.
Given how blatant it was, how long it was, and crucially how on camera it was, they almost had to cop that ban. I think van der Breggen spent a fair bit of her last year as a rider towing Vollering around and has forgotten that she isn't allowed to do it when she's not on a bike.
No surprise that Vollering was docked 20 seconds - I wish the post-race coverage would interview Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig.
Fixed that for you.
Vollering may break Red Ricks record of crying salty tears when she loses GC by under 20 seconds
I'd say that I wouldn't expect her to break your record, but Demi does seem to like a good cry, whether it be joy, sorrow or bitterness.

TBF Movistar have won a stage and don't have the yellow jersey, having the yellow jersey kind of puts the onus on SD Worx to do the chasing. If they don't want people to expect them to contribute to the chase, they should have let a break get enough to get the jersey, or threaten to. Instead they've tried to have their cake and eat it, let breaks get up the road enough that other teams want to chase, but not actually want to let the jersey go, and then not had any coherence with regards to how they try to win the stage afterward. And when they have had a plan it's actually been kinda counterintuitive, such as having Vollering lead out Kopecky for a sprint that was better for a lighter rider, and then not having Kopecky help Vollering at all on a stage where Vollering could gain GC time but instead Kopecky attacking repeatedly solo on a stage she had little chance of catching the break and was never going to be taken seriously as a threat by the big guns with the Tourmalet coming up on Saturday.
