Will any of the Uzbekistan riders from Tashkent City Women Professional Cycling Team make it to the finish, of stage 1 ? let alone make it to Sunday.

Bit of a joke to allow them to ride at this level, when there are teams with riders capable of sticking this course who weren't invited. More so when that non invite has been a factor to the collapse of one team.

Yanina Kuskova seems to at least have the level to be able follow the pace in the pack. Rules are rules, and Tashkent deserved their sport in accordance with them. But sporting wise, VolkerWessels should obviously have been here instead.

Why is Liv Alula riding at the front of the peleton? There job is to save energy in the peleton or getting into breaks. There should only be two teams at the front of the peleton being SD Worx and DSM.

It's lovely to see that Laboral-Kutxa have come to here to race. Tonetti was maybe fortunate with the crash happening behind, but she went for it and got rewarded.

Because Mavi will pace the whole race and somehow still come 5-10th in gc 🤷🏻‍♀️

Last stage is a monster but the other ones are mostly disappointing, especially the TT which is way too short.

I can't see anyone beating Vollering in the overall, Wiebes is my pick for today.

NFB on the front with 9kms. What a joke! No wonder she is leaving SD Worx.

Kool, with ease, no SDworx in top 4, she had said she'd hoped it was working in reverse this season, had won a stage in every race last year but at TdFF.

Kool wasn't even on Barbieri's wheel, but Wiebes' mechanical, or whatever it was, made it a piece of cake. Nice result for Ahtosalo as well.

It was a terrific lead out...but they were leading out thin air. Quite a remarkable sprint from Kool.

It's good to see a gifted rider in Kool winning the first stage. My two takeaways are that Vos was slow in the sprint and Pikalik who medalled yesterday at the Olympics, made it to the TDF, yet other riders did not.

I think HPH and Roland, who had a not yet fit Natalie Grinczer as well as Coles-Lyster in their rosters, have been struggling a bit to gather 7 riders ahead of the race.

Agreed. This is a VERY underwhelming route; I could have seen this as the first edition of the race but for a race that should be evolving it's disappointing. I did a double-take when I saw the TT, that's barely prologue length. I'm sure LS could speak to this much better than I but perhaps the Olympics had an impact this year, and my understanding is the route next year is supposed to be much better with more and tougher stages?
