Well they tried on that stage where Wiggins brought back Luis-Leon.

Who gets the sprint responsibilities in the Vuelta? EBH perhaps or Sutton like last year.

By far Swift ;)

EBH is not going to Vuelta. Sutton will be Swift's leadout I would guess.

They didn't send much of a sprint train to the Vuelta last year - it was Sutton and nothing else if memory serves. Why change that this year when I believe there are more MTF's? Particularly as they'll consider the GC and even bigger target this year with Froome's form.

Not disagreeing with you, just thinking it through. would be very happy to see Swift there.

Not sure how anyone can seriously talk about Froome when the Vuelta is so close to the Tour, and there is an Olympic TT inbetween to worry about.

No one thinks you can do the Giro Tour anymore, and Tour Vuelta are even closer together. He might start well, but he'll be cooked by the end.

The dog is also a victim in this. Poor thing.

Yeh, allthough the dog seemed fine.

It's incredible how this has to happen every year again. You can see the owner putting the lease on the dog after the crash happened. Bit late there....
Very frustating for the riders. It's such a bloody shame you can't control everyone at the roadside for 200km.
It's the obvious flaw in road cycling.

p.s. Nothing wrong what Gilbert did. Wasn't much anyways.

so sky can win 6 stages?

basically, tomorrow with wiggins having a good shot and paris with cav

1-2 in gc, 6 stage wins, yellow for 2 weeks

dammn

oh, finally! finally someone has noticed it!

i get so angry at the italian tv commentators, boring tour, sky tactics... they would shut up if wiggins passport was italian :)

everybody go back to team sky web site, look at them this winter in mallorca, preparing for this season, knowing the mistakes they made in 2010, the bad luck of 2011. training camps of many weeks, all the preparation, the details and so on.

they won algarve, paris nice, bayern, romandie, dauphine, and almost, the Tour.

4 af these races won by Wiggins, so HE is the captain, and he's always been since 2010. froome decided to sign with sky again so it's his business.

next year they'll decide what to do
but now is now, and he's in yellow, and look on cyclingnews stage report, to see his smile crossing the line yesterday

(and nibali saying they don't talk during dinners: i guess if you put flecha and barry together at a table you'll struggle to shut them up :D)

Anyone who takes a dog to a cycle race is a moron. That's it.

Maybe the real morons are the ASO and their publicity caravan. It accounts for the 50% who stand by the roadside, primarily to watch it's procession, (and to gather as much cheap tat as possible) not the race.
Not surprisingly, it's the sort of thing that appeals to kids, who want to take the family pet, on the day out.

Still, at least it shows that Phil is still capable of a stinging attack, given the right motivation!:D

As for the race. A much better stage than I expected.
Chapeau to just about everyone in the break.
Hard luck, Vino, Jelle, LLS and Roachie.
All very deserving.

Mr Mark San Remo looks to have returned.

Nicholas Roche posted on twitter that the top 20 GC riders get to travel by helicopter and the rest of the riders geto to drive the 400kms by bus.

Sucks for the two lonely Radioshack riders left who aren't in the top 20

I am now very annoyed that my morning meeting overlapped the last 15 kms.

That's a shame, try to find a replay or something. It was a fantastic finish to the stage!

Lemme go during the stage ok?

I guess it's convenient to pick my messages about Sky and not about Liquigas, Greenedge and whoever dared to chase, to act all smug and frustrated once again.

Seriously Sky fans, grow up

Well, you wwere the one swearing at Sky and accusing them of stealing the stage!

My pics from the stage.
Elsewhere, I have achieved the first climb of the day (Côte de St Georges, 1km at 10.3%) in 4 minutes, to compare with the 3 minutes of Nuyens, Arashiro and Vinokourov:cool:

That was one nasty sprint by Cavendish. I know he's been on a pretty short leash this Tour and so in terms of stage wins, it isn't up to his normal standards, but it is obvious that the guy is in some serious form right now with the Olympics just around the corner.

He was always going to be a gold medal favorite, but for the other medal hopefuls, today's display will only reinforce that going into London.

Flandis was sprinter in '04:confused:

Obviously not, but I think I know the stage the previous poster was referring to: stage 17, in which a small group finished together after a descent: Armstrong, Landis, Ullrich, Kloden, and Basso. Supposedly Armstrong was going to work to set up Landis for the sprint, but of course exactly the opposite happened: Landis chased Kloden and Armstrong won the sprint.

Cav looked like Schumi in the final straight
