If they took Larsson it would never have been in place of Noval, most likely it would have been in place of Vandborg or Tossato (who I think was the one responsible for positioning Contador, so that might not have been the worst choice )

That probably also explains the incredible starting speed of Saxo, as was stated here before by someone (sorry can't remember who) the best speeds in Time Trials come in those that in one direction with full time tail wind, here the first half will be really fast but the second slower due to head wind.
