Then you are an idiot.

To call Voigt a pussy, regardless of what his opinion is, is idiotic.

You write that sentence, and I am an idiot? Okay then. I love it when the barely literate try to insult.

Voigt is a pussy if his opinion is that a stage like today is too much for GT riders. Its a stupid position, and one that belies the fact that some people in this world actually have a real job. Jobs where they don't get paid hundreds of thousands per year to ride a fu*king bike. Sorry, but complaining about that makes you a pussy.

Just noticed that Contador switched to a Roubaix SL3 at some point in the stage. It's not his custom painted SL3 in this picture:

NOt this year.

Live morning coverage, and that's it.

bummer.

I wonder what the ratings are for TdF. I guess they aren't that hot.

I think they probably were better when LA was winning in the early 2000s.

he was on the roubaix the whole stage i think

Kind of a weird quote from Pharmstrong after the stage:

“We lost significant time, so we just have to keep our heads up and take our chances on the climbs. Our chances took a knock today, but we’re not going home; we’ll stay in the race.”

Really, you'll stay in the race? Why would a contender even think of pulling out after losing only a minute or two with nearly the entire race to go?

Seriously?? It's a figure of speech. Of course they're not going home.

"stay in the race" = keep trying hard; not going to give up/coast to the finish line

Bäckstedt is a former winner of Paris-Roubaix.

But! It has been well established in this thread that wining on cobbles is simply a matter of luck. Therefor, while he did get lucky once, that shouldn't be used as evidence of any particular skill or knowledge on the subject.

That does leave me wondering though.. At Paris–Roubaix, how is it that seven different riders have gotten lucky three times, 12 others lucky twice, and one guy lucky 4 times? I mean, if it is just luck, repeat wins should be the exception, but they appear to be the norm.

Ah, well.. I'm sure I should just trust what I read here and leave logic out of it :)

(did I over do it?!?!)

I like Jens. My original comment was about the *** little rant Andy Schleck had before the stage regarding having to ride cobbles. Sorry, but like I said, there are people with real jobs who would consider anyone a pussy who is making more in a year than most people on earth will in a lifetime talking about how hard his freaking job riding a freaking bike is over some freaking stones. Then the peanut gallery brought in Jens, and what he said after the stage. I haven't read what he said, and I will grant you that after being there and seeing Frank on the ground, anyone's emotions would be raw. That still does not alter my opinion that a stage like today's is perfectly fine for a GT, and riders whining about it before the stage (especially ones who have a guy who is strong enough to get them a result they had no chance of getting otherwise) spells P U S S Y in my book.

I didn't refer to Jens initially. That was brought in by Tito and Jermaine.

I am sure guys like this would love to put on some Lycra and get paid to ride on a bike that weighs less than their freaking seat. Cry me a river Jens or anyone else who thinks they have it tough in the pro ranks.

He's admitting that his chances of winning have taken a dent, but also reminding those that think he is totally out of it that he is "still in the race".

Whatever you think of Armstrong, you have to admire the graceful way he has taken this, and admire that extraordinary performance to get back to group on his own today.

It's just a shame that the fans have been robbed of a closer fight between the two most popular riders in the world, both of whom got the biggest cheers at the ITT start ramp. This could now turn into a very boring tour. Lets hope not.

Wow what a great stage to watch.this turning out to be the best tour in years.Winners today where Evans,A.schleck,Contador,Van den Broek,wiggins,menchov./Loosers today Gesink, cunego and Armstrong. Was really impressed by G.Thomas this guy has great future on the Pave......Get well soon to F.Schleck didnt deserves to crash out like this.

I think that's a trite thing to do. So nobody should ever complain about anything because there are people in the third world worse off?

Andy Schleck was merely complaining about the unpredictability of introducing cobbles to a grand tour, and I think he has been vindicated on that. Most people like to see the best rider win the tour in a fair way, not be out like his brother in a crash or have a puncture with no cars to help. We already have the classic for that. It's madness to have that in a grand tour.

No, no he hasn't. Someone else in this tour will likely crash out for some reason on some descent or into some traffic furniture. It is part of the freaking deal, and sorry, but 6 sections of cobbles, none of which were the hardest they could have found, is really not that big of a deal. Why should it be that the only time gaps that count are on mountains or TT's?

Like I said before, ASO endured mounds of criticism in years past for making the race too hard with mountains. Then we get a tour like last year that had the drama of a Little Miss Georgia pageant because it was too freaking easy. The race was boring with a capital Zzzzzzz. They decided to do something that would liven the race, and it did just that. Not to mention that it was fun to watch. Riders also forget one thing in their little pity party, if people don't watch the races, they don't get paid big fat checks.

For the love of Gawd,

How pathetic a human being do you have to be to have nothing better to do than just keep re-registering under changing names, all the time.

I mean, really. Just pathetic.

Go outside - that bright thing in the sky - that's the sun.

Shouldn't he be feeding some Africans instead?

Another chamois sniffing July wonder swooping in and trying to throw bombs. If you are BPC, you will not be able to hide for very long. You just don't have the self control to do so. Mental illness sucks that way. If you are some new fanboy (I am guessing I am right with my previous assessment), I can tell you what your next 15 posts will be without you posting them and I am not even a psychic.
