Not surprising to see Vervaeke getting better and better near the end of a stage-race.

He's not getting better and better. He just decides to join a break.

Lopez isn't really interested in him. He knows Vervaeke will crack at a certain point.

Closing a 1 and a half minute gap in no time on his own equals that?

Vervaeke is a pure stage-racer, so yes, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's really strong today.

It is carnage already, on the 2nd climb of the day.

Situation de la course :
Vervaeke (Belgique)

à 5'' : S. Kragh Andersen (Danemark)

à 10'' : Hofstede (Pays-Bas)

à 40'' : Latour (France)

à 50'' : Soler (Espagne)

à 1'35'' : "Peloton" d'une 15aine de coureurs.

That would be fairly stupid, given what Vervaeke has already won this year. I know he's not hip and Colombian, but he's quite a big talent.

I think Lopez wants a helper with him for the descent and the kms in the valley. Then at the bottom of La Toussuire he can go himself.

But as the "peloton" is only 15 riders big, the pace is obviously high.

Exactly. I wouldn't underestimate him. Not all talents are Colombian.

He's a good rider, but not in the class of Lopez. Why do you think he's 8th at GC at 1.49?

If Lopez has the same form he had yesterday, he can easily close 1 minute on La Toussuire.

Latour now only loses more time, and that's just because of the tempo of Rozo.

Well, he is stillonly 1 min 49 away, not caring about anyone that close would be stupid, even if you're a class on your own.

But they are riding tempo, and holding the gap under two minutes.

Vervaeke needs to do this all on his own.

So Lopez still got Brayan Ramirez to work for him till the foot of La Toussuire.

Gap is now 2.00 min.

Changing the subject much? ;) of course Lopez will go a lot faster on Toussuire.

I don't know how much the favorites are going 100% at the moment. Vervaeke showed guts, that's for sure.

If he's better then the last days, you can't say.

Latour attacked on the descent with a teammate and was 30" behind the Vervaeke group at one point. Then Vervaeke went solo and byebye Latour. The pace in the peloton is obviously not slow as well, given how small the group is. So I think it's pretty clear he's stronger.

Ok, Vervaeke is flying at the moment!

But i still hope Lopez gets it;)

It's 3.15 at the moment. Lopez really has to start now, otherwise he's got a big problem.
