Just like Bol. Barry Markus is a pure sprinter, Wouter Wippert as well (I think, don't know too much about him).

I wasn't casting aspersions about the Dutch riders, just trying to fill in the picture of Rowe a bit.

I don't think Jordi Simon can come close to Quintana. Remember this last year?
(only mtf)

1. [COL] QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander CEP 5h44'31" 8
2. [USA] TALANSKY Andrew - 39" 4
3. [ESP] LANDA MEANA Mikel ORB 39" 2
4. [COL] ATAPUMA HURTADO John Darwin CEP 41" 0
5. [NED] SLAGTER Tom Jelte RB3 43" 0
6. [AUS] MATTHEWS Michael JAS 01'34" 0
7. [NED] KELDERMAN Wilco RB3 01'38" 0
8. [ESP] FERNANDEZ SUAREZ Higinio CJR 01'38" 0
9. [COL] PANTANO GOMEZ Jarlinson CEP 01'38" 0
10. [RUS] IGNATIEV Dimitry TIK 01'38" 0

If you realise how well Mikel Landa and Talansky have been doing in their first WT-year, and see how much they lost on Quintana on a relatively easy climb, I don't see how Simon wil fare better

Yes I haven’t forgot last year’s spell of dominance. However, with the bulletins coming out of J. Simon’s camp, I just can’t help seeing past him as my personal favorite.

That’s not to diminish Nairo Quintana however! I would be absolutely thrilled if he were to secure the double.

Its fair enough you don’t agree with me at all though, should only make for some interesting debate in the coming days!

in what race against what competition did you see him?

simon is indeed a good talent but he's quite bad at itt imo. he did very well at murcia pro race which tells me he has potential. because usually spanish elite level cycling is pretty low nowadays

In Trofeo Sportivi Briga which ends on the famous San Colombano wall (Which has pitches of up to 20%). He finished 4th. Enrico Battaglin won ahead of Stefano Agostini. Edmondson is the rider in gray who comes around Moreno Moser just at the finish line.

Also in the undulating Gran Premio Citta’ Di Felino. He finished sixth. Nicola Boem won with Moreno Moser coming third. Winner Anacona finished seventh btw.

You can find all the footage on Tele-Ciclismo. There is also a brief brief video of the riders crossing the finish-line at Bassano-Monte Grappa where he finished fourth.

Simón appears to be pretty talented.
Like ryo said he went under the radar a bit at murcia, good show there.

But I think Quintana has shown more.

Oh well at least Rowe is a massive future all-rounder talent. He can win sprints from big groups as well.

Compared to Wouter Wippert every name sounds lame.

I remember readuing that name first time some years ago and honestly thought it was a joke, surly no one could be named that

but never for a win.

3rd in Route du Sud and 5th in Poland, he's coming along just fine. He doesn't strike me as their future Tour winner but he's getting good.

Since Jean-Paul van Poppel?

Guys, seriously. I was obviously talking about this millennium.
Only one I can think of is van Heeswijk, but he wasn't excellent either. And there's of course Theo Bos, but his possibilities as a road racer are still up for debate.

I like the etc :D

Besides the fact that I was pretty sure you knew van Poppel en Blijlevens there was no suggestion that you were talking about this millenium :(

So not very selective after all. A tad dissapointing considering the parcours. But nice win by Hepburn. He seems in great shape.
