Tour de Luxembourg 2012 : 30.05 - 03.06

Lars Petter Nordhaug for the win. He's in pretty good form and is very motivated to prove himself ahead of the TDF selection.

I think he's just going to miss out on selection unfortunately. He's still a bit of an unknown quantity, despite having an impressive year, so it's probably a safer bet to pick the likes of Rogers and Siutsov instead of him. Plus those guys are better in the lead out for Cavendish.

I agree, as long as Cavendish is riding I don't think Nordhaug will make the team (even if he wins the GC here). Primarily because Sky hasn't included him in Wiggins' super-awesome-climbing-friends squad who are doing altitude camps together.

Vacansoleil-DCM

Wouter Mol
Wout Poels
Romain Feillu
Rafa Valls Ferri
Nikita Novikov
Martin Mortensen
Kris Boeckmans
Johnny Hoogerland
Björn Leukemans

Have a good feeling about this one, granted I havent seen the profiles yet, there will be a selective stage I presume?

I like Nordhaug and hope he wont make the TDF selection and then focusses on the Vuelta. He has a good shot in Tour of Poland during the tour + he can prepare there for the Olympics. Then he can ride the Vuelta in preperation for worlds (with a course that suits him really well) or as a goal itself (even though he probably has to work for Froome, but he will get a more free role in the Vuelta then he would get in the TDF).

difficult... mainly because he's not riding... Dowsett took his place, and so I say Dowsett for the win :)

All you ranting about the pointless prologue have obviously no idea about the parcours. It's the same every year, quite technical and indeed has a very long, steep and cobbled climb in it. It was used as a TdF prologue in 2002 and Armstrong won.

The last riders start after dark and the ambiance on that climb is pretty great, too bad that I can't go watch it this year.

Here is a picture that will give you a good idea of the gradient:

The prologue will be extremely fast. I think a sprinter will win it, perhaps Greipel? Can't discount Engoulvent either.

is it not the same as every year? that prologue had a climb in it

Yes, very pretty. However even pretty and hilly prologues needs distance. 2,65km doesn't cut it.
