To the bolded; the others might regret not being able to finish him off today. If he hangs on tomorrow, he could win it in the TT. I don't think his TT has worsened, it's just his overall shape that's been off the last year or so.

If Spilak's bad day was a sign of things to come, Caruso is the big favourite unless Pozzovivo crushes everyone tomorrow.

Nothing like that, i believe thar Rui could win tomorrow, but for me , the Saturday stage suits him better.
I wouldn't mind if hw win the next three stages abd GC at all.

I don't think Costa can win either tomorrow or saturday. Tiefenbachferner is definitely much too hard of a climb for him and on saturday the criterium laps are probably too easy. Today was his chance to win.

Pozzovivo WILL crush everyone tomorrow! Apart from Soler obviously.

Great racing and it was good to see Pozzo get a win at last. Despite a large number of attacks, there are still a number of riders in contention. Hope to see Pozzo on the attack again tomorrow.

I like Spilak, so I hope that it was just a bad day.
Pozzovivo should be able to gain some time tomorrow, but you never know.
Caruso has a good chance, but I wouldn't dismiss Kruijswijk's chances, the climb should suit him and him being able to say with Pozzovivo and winning the sprint wouldn't surprise me.

I put Rolland in the same category as Andy Schleck and Zakarin as far as descending goes. it's kind of funny when you see Rolland go off on solo breaks in the mountains, doing well up the ascent then crawling down the descent and cornering like an old woman.

It's nice to see a win for Pozzovivo, but it's hard not to feel sorry for Woods. A difficult descent in the pouring rain is something very few riders who came to cycling late can handle at an elite level.

just saw the stage, hell yeah Pozzovivo! it's not often that my favorite rider wins a race. it's even better since he came so close at the Giro multiple times.

No. He was pretty bad on the climb, but was great on the descent when it started raining.

Pozzovivo is not Purito-bad in a TT, he is actually somewhat underrated. He has some fine results in the Grand Tour TTs that aren't pancake flat. Even the ones which are only slightly lumpy (similar to this Suisse TT). But he still needs more time.

I don't think he needs that much on Caruso/Kruijswijk (maybe 30-40 secs before the TT) but he needs at least a minute+ on Spilak. Luckily for him, Spilak looks like he is struggling a bit on the climbs.

I'd say he need to distance Caruso/Kruijswijk by at least 20 secs and Spilak by about 40 secs on Tiefenbachferner to be in a good position before the TT.

Great win for Pozzovivo - could hardly watch those wet hairpins on the descent, just glad everyone stayed upright :surprised:

He looks on excellent form, will need to be aggressive on the Tiefenbachferner today so should make for great racing.

Špilak exemplified how hard he was riding to get back on by not even having the time to zip up his jersey for several km on the descent until he made it back to the yellow jersey group!

Pozzo's potential luck is that there is no big ITT guy lurking not far away in the standings, so if he can get a few tens of seconds of leg room, it could be doable.

"I will now try to increase my lead in the overall especially since there is a time trial on the final day that really does not suit me," Pozzovivo said.

Probably need more than 30 secs on Tiefenbachferner. Something between 20 and 40 should be possible. In the two mountain stages, he has seemed like the strongest man. One minute is difficult if not impossible, he is no Froome after all.

Yes, that's it. Last 450 meters is downhill. Before that there is the Rosi-Mittermaier-Tunnel which is 1750 meters long. Hopefully there will be coverage in the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel they will be at 2.830 meters.

2.830 meters seems to be a new altitude record for european pro cycling?
