He's been missing out on a few too many winning chances riding like this lately.

He sure has. I love JA but he's botched so many finishes in the past 18 months (Not that he hasn't won his share). Part of it is that he gets impatient; he'll animate the last 10-15k of a race, then attack rather than trying to see how strong other riders are.
Wout Poels what a great ride, him and Padun to fight it out for the TdF yellow jersey imo.

Laugh now, we'll be crying in July! Actually, that was impressive.
 
MvdP is obviously very good but as far as the Tour is concerned I am really not sold on his flat bunch sprint capabilities. I don't doubt he has the speed to be in the mix but I can imagine him not being there consistently enough to win green.

In all the years Sagan won a lot of that was on the basis of simply being there Every Single Sprint.

He's impatient but also very predictable. He's got only one scenario in his roadbook - explosive attack just before the top of the climb. His acceleration is obviously incredible and he won some races thanks to that, but it starts to become kinda boring.
