How much of a difference TT bike brings over 5km flat? 3-4 sec/km?
If so, I wonder if it's really faster to change bikes
I think 5 km on a TT bike over 5 km flat will give an advantage of 15-20 seconds, as you wrote. If the bikechange has to be done already in the climb (after a few hundreds of meter), at low speed, a bicycle change is beneficial. Especially for TT-specialists (gaining more time during those 5 flat km) and GC-riders. pocketclimbers could choose to ride a (climbing)bike from start to finish.

Did Mäder do this full ITT on TT bike 2 years ago?
No.

Firing up my VPN and Swiss stream one last time so I can hear the sweet, sweet sounds of Swiss German, and on the course in the background you can see some lovely mountains - feel like I should be breaking out one of those Swiss horns or make an attempt to yodel.

Hope Bernal, Pidcock, and Yates do well, the latter two because they have cute dogs.

not necessarily. Most of the guys who tried to win the watch dropped back massively afterwards.

but he's an ITT specialist, surely Ineos would have wanted him to ride the whole course to get a decent result ? his T2 to finish time was comparable to Caruso, its just his T1-T2 time was so slow, which meant he ends up with a time overall slower than Vollering did.
