I thought Yates was that person. Still not convinced on either with him and Almeida.
Majka though seems rather selfless?

In the Giro Pogacar said he wanted him to go for the win one stage, and Majkas response was to pull for Pogacar rather than attack himself. Pogacar won the stage of course.

Is there anyone at UAE that doesn’t ask before they win?

"Ask Before You Win or How to Share the Pie 101" - UAE rider mandatory training as of 2024.

Supersedes previous training "Rock, Paper, Scissors and Other Even Less Reliable Ways to Gift A Stage".

Not exactly the same, but I think Pogačar also tried to set up Soler and Almeida for stage wins in Catalunya? And seemed really happy about Adam Yates' yellow jersey in the 2023 TdF.

Pog and Majka in tour of Slovenia gives me that vibe. Pog can afford it.

I thought Yates was that kind of person. Still not convinced on either with him and Almeida. I'm absolutely not convinced of the idea that they're bitter rivals just playing for the cameras.
Yates probably has no idea that there's a fierce rivalry going on. Almeida has a fierce rivalry with anyone not named Almeida. :D

That sounds much more accurate! I don't get a cunning vibe from Yates at all. Almeida though I'm not sure of. I think his biggest rival could very well be named Joao Pedro Almeida.

Or even his power meter

Did somebody noticed something in the face of Bernal when he came in at the finish line? He looked fresh, or relatively fresh. Watch it again. I went looking for his interview after the race and He said that He is only defending the podium and he was marking Skjelmose. So no more risks for him. He is done. Hopefully he will do a good time trial tomorrow and to an altitude camp.

So thats why Ineos pulled all day.. just to defend against Skjelmose? Seems a bit weird, I'd have expected the plan was to try to win the stage, but I guess they did try that (kinda), but he just didnt have the legs when the real attacks started.

Honestly, Bernal is looking good for a Tour podium.

It's 10km 8%, in fact, the TT is the same last 15km of stage 7 with the same exact climb and finish line. Both look like climbing a similar level but they haven't been able to attack each other and almeida has mostly been working for Adam. The climb is hard enough for big differences just depends who recovers better.
The bottom of the climb is not the same. In the TT, they are not doing the loop to the salt mines and the wineyard mur of Antagnes. The first 4k are flat. It is exacltly the same as the 2022 Romandie final TT (maybe 100m less, depending on the placement of the start ramp and finishing line)

Vlasov won. Geschke surprise 2nd. Mäder 3rd.
"Favorite" Rohan Diva Dennis totally imploded.
The wide roads are steeper than they look with long streches of 10-11%.

back then, some teams switched bikes after 5-6k btw, and Yates said that this is also their plan for today.

Let's see if the men do the same thing.

I think it's an interesting data point about how much better TT bikes are on the flats compared to road bikes.
It's weird that they don't switch to a road bike with tri-bars.

EDIT: But then again, in 2018 neither Rogla nor Bernal rode with tri-bars.

Really? I think there's prolly 7-8 riders off the top of my head with bigger chances: Pog, Almeida, Yates, Carlos, Roglic, Remco and Jonas.

I would add Jorgenson and Ayuso. I know, Jorgenson is unknown for 3 weeks races, but that kinda applies for Bernal (after his back problems and injury) as well. Heck, I even rate Hindley very high.

Watching the women's ITT suggests the men's winner will complete the course between 34 and 35 minutes.

How much of a difference TT bike brings over 5km flat? 3-4 sec/km?
If so, I wonder if it's really faster to change bikes
