I can't imagine Gesink going any stronger in the Tour, is he peaking too early?

That would be too bad, but what if this gives him a nice stage victory and what if this gives him the win in the TdS then that's ok imo. He's young he got plenty of years to go.

he looks great. I don't think he is peaking too early, he hasn't had a lot of racing days of late... the training seems to payed off though.

Way too many helicopter shots. They need more cameras on motorbikes so you can really see what's going on in these bunches.

Perhaps the Saxo's got it all wrong today

Evidently it looks like Fuglsang was their strongest rider today?

Massive performance by Gesink by the way.

Edit: Ok, he's struggling now I was wrong

I'm only following the live report and looking at the profile.

With 10k to go there is a descent and then a not-so-steep climb. With only a minute lead earned on a steep climb, it seems like the group should be able to catch Gesink.

From CN live ticker:

"Gesink isn't a great climber but he should make this."

I hope they mean descender, he looks like a quite decent climber to me :)

Lots of splits near the top, but they will probably get back together on the descent.

RadioShack riding at the back of the group like a big red anchor being dragged up the mountain. These guys do not attack, do not pull, do not look active at all.

ETA - spoke too soon. There they are at the front. Must know the cameras are there.

and yet in 2 1/2 short weeks, they'll ride like their bikes have motors in them.
