Yeah, now it seems to be over. I thought Wellens would go faster than this.Given there's still some climbing to come and Wellens got dropped pretty badly earlier Quitntana has this unless he crashes or flats
I think he blew himself up trying to catch the Martin-Storer group hoping they'd help. Quintana has paced his effort much betterYeah, now it seems to be over. I thought Wellens would go faster than this.
Credit to Wellens for catching Quintana yesterday, forcing him to attack today and briefly looking like he might turn it around, that overperformance has largely made the race. Just a shame nobody would help him.
He's said he'll go to the TDF for stages only. He will go for GC at the Vuelta. Riding head to head with Remco is all that matters.El Condor, the TdF favourite, soars to the first place!
I don't think so. Less exciting as the GC would be done and dusted, but still with good action. This would've been incredibly boring without Wellens.

Those GC gaps, jezus. I mean I know Quintana is miles above the others climbing wise so that was to be expected but still.
What happened to the Trek guys?
I think he got a reputation as a more Conservative rider after the 2016 TDF (when he sat on froome wheel) and the 2017 Giro. But you are right. He rides with passion. I remember on the first mountain stage on 2013 TDF he attacked on Col de Pailheres when nobody consider him a favourite. And he is still attacking nowGreat win for Quintana. The way he won. By attacking all the time is very impressive. People under-estimate that when he is in form he attacks a lot. He also showed his descending skills which are not bad if you ask me. For a rider his size to be able to handle all terrains the way he does is impressive.
