Nice win by Javier Romo. I didn't know much about him but he's obviously a very strong rider. A former triathlete who switched to the road in 2020. He then promptly won the Spanish U23 title in the same year and finished 23rd on GC at the 2024 Tour.

I guess he is one of those riders who will never podium a grand tour but could be a good domestique. Races like TDU are a good opportunity for riders like Romo to get in the limelight. And as a Spaniard should fit in well at Movistar.

Last heard of putting out a statement on social media saying that he was merely exercising a right to a career pause in 2021, and that he would tell us all when he was actually retiring.
