I didn't pay yesterday's stage any attention. I won't pay today's stage any attention either. I could use the time to do something more productive, like remove my skin with sandpaper or stick my head in a vice.

Just give HTC the winner's bonus now and tell them to go home.

The one thing I really like about my CQ fantasy team is I won't have to get mad every time HTC wins another boring sprint since I have their two top guys on my team.

They lose - great for me, they win - great for my team.

I can't help but feel disgusted by this tactic from HTC. They already have the fastest sprinters and best organized lead outs but now they are also riding with a buffer at the wheel of their sprinter to increase the gap to the opponents? I think this is a very low thing to do and it's frankly unsportsmanlike behavior. They need to grow up and race like men.

Weird weird weird opinion.

So HTC put their team on the front, do all the work of the leadout but are only allowed 1 sprinter as you've decided that's what sportsmanship is.

No-one is stopping anyone else having their own train, the road is wide enough.

Oh look, Libertine doesn't like sprint stages, HTC, and HTC in sprint stages. Who knew.

Learn something new everyday.

To the person whining at rear-gunners - Lord be praised, it didn't even happen. Just watched the highlights including final Km and it's a sky rider behind Goss - not sure where Cav was earlier but by sprint time he's nowhere to be seen.

Finish Time: 2.41pm

Woops someone has made a mistake. Theyve accidentally leaked the finishing time and the weather.

Some of Liggets comments have also been revealed, including talk of the 3 grand tours (TDF, TOC and TDU), praise for Lance Armstrong and the misidentification of stage winner Matty Goss as Mark Cavendish.

Thankfully the podium for the stage, the riders to go into the break, and the identity of the riders to be involved in the crash 600m from the finish, have remained hidden

TDU is dull no question, I might try and find some live streaming deep sea fishing or chess or something.

You make the dismissal of TDU real hard core if you stay up all night to watch deep sea fishing. Sleeping isn't as hard core but it's probably worth more in terms of productivity.

The worst kind of dismissal I can think of is watching snooker and actually enjoy it. :)

Greipel, Goss, Chicchi.

[edit] Listening to the audio. All the commentary pitched to non-cycling-fans is starting to do my head in a bit.

Me too, I have a digital radio and am listening to the coverage. This race is too much about tourism imo. Advertising throughout all the tv & radio coverage of places to go see and adverts of sponsors.

The problem is that it's unsportsmanlike and obstructionist. You have a guy in the middle of the sprint that isn't there only to sprint. It's simply a dirty tactic. What's next? Will the buffer guy simply leave a gap to the sprinter with 300m to go to further help with the win?

What planet are you on? Its a sprint finish. There is no implication in that quote that Cav will be cutting people off or preventing them from sprinting past him if they can.

If however, they cannot ride faster than Cav in the finale they will get third at best because Goss will be ahead of Cav taking the win.

Its a tactical outlook that has existed for decades, whats the sudden problem?

There's some sort of a prediction arms race going on here...

Well, the more places you predict the more likely to get a few right. Now imagine if I get all 10 right ;)

acf - is the TdU on more or less uninterrupted on ABC Grandstand? I thought they were doing the Tennis so I've been listening through ABC Adelaide online.

Ya, they seemed to deliberately tried to work around mentioning Armstrong when talking about Landis. "He's been trying to bring down various riders in the US" etc.

ABC adelaide coverage is the same ABC grandstand coverage except the ABC Grandstand coverage will be covering the whole stage were as ABC Adelaide is only covering the tdu for the next hour.
