CAM MEYER!!!

Year of the Sandgroper (or at least Month :p ) is going well. :D

If you believe some of the Aussie cycling media hype, the TDF in 5 years time will be Bobridge v C.Meyer

Oh and LOL at the sprint:

Griepl headbutting Haedo, Haedo bodychecks other Lotto rider, McEwen headbutts Griepl. Cycloboxing. :D

Now come on Dim, we expect a daotec-style spam of photos now...

He hasn't shown any outstanding climbing talent though, has he? Not in Europe at least.
He has not proved that he is a climber yet at all. Not meaning to show BMC bias here but Tim Roe has shown the most potential of an aussie for being a strong stage racer

I just heard Cam dub himself as a climber.

That ain't right is it? The guy's more of a TT'ist

Matt White has told him he is. .

Nice one Swifty.

Matt Hayman is such an underrated rider. So strong.
Definitely one of the best domestiques out there. Unbelievable how long he managed to stay in the front. Very impressive by Team Sky, they sure like criteriums.

Or Michael Matthews, the strongest Aussie in the Tour de l'Avenir ;) (granted, after Timmy Roe crashed he probably took over GC duties).

I think Lachlan Morton is the Aussie with the most stage racing talent, if Vaughters' stories about him are true.

Yeah. Their leader, O'Grady managed to hold on to a top 50 overall. Respect!

Their best riding was done by Vigano I think. After leaving Sky where he perhaps was the 7th fastest sprinter or something like that he now has a team where he gets to sprint a little at least. He performed at around his potential I think.

Oh, the riders individually probably did perform according to their level, but what a poor line-up they had. I can understand that this race is not that important to them, but come on...

That looked like it was a very fast leadout. Swift and Thomas definitely vying for their places in the WC Team Pursuit.

Definatly looked fast from Thomas, and he remembered to get out of the way this time.;)

I can see Swift making the pursuit squad for 2012 along with G Thomas, Wiggans, Clancy or Burke no problem.

Why waste their team at TDU when their stars are going to do Oman and Qatar to prepare for the spring classics.

There's no come on about it, they just don't care about TDU and they shouldn't. It's a worthless race for them and doesn't fit in the overall strategy at all.

Even when you don't bring your A-game (which team, except maybe HTC and Lotto, really have?) you should be able to do better than this. Even Euskaltel did better.

I thought they actually said top 5 races in the world which would presumably in their eyes put it only behind Tour, Giro, Vuelta and TOC!? They'll probably revise their opinions downwards next year when LA isn't present.

And there's the TOC again...

Tour, Giro, Vuelta, Paris-Nice, Dauphine, Switzerland...

Well, they did talk about how well organized the race was as a main contributing factor to that statement and I must admit that the TDU (and a lot of other races) are much better organized than for example the Vuelta. As soon as you bring prestige and sporting level into it however the statement becomes absurd.

No, no, no.
The order is: The TDF, ATOC, Giro, Vuelta, TDU and.............the Tour of Gila.
Phily and Pauly. Cycling's very own Laurel and Hardy or Morecombe and Wise.

Not their tv coverage. That was a shambles.

However, given that the whole event is arranged around one city, the organization should be a breeze. It is well run.
The crowds were exceptional and gave the race plenty of buzz.
However, it is a bit of a Southern Hemisphere one-off, so it's to be expected.
