Wow

132 CAVENDISH Mark (GBR19850521) TEAM COLUMBIA-HTC 9:28

I realize that Cav and the rest of the chasers probably called it quits when it became obvious that they weren't going to catch back on, but the result still has to be disturbing. Despite his dental problems and early season issues, you would have thought that he would be rounding into some type of form by now. Even if he wasn't contesting the sprint, to get dropped so far from the finish and come in this far down makes me wonder what we will see from Cav for the remainder of the season.

It's depressing but I have to agree. He really seems to be struggling to find any kind of climbing form, he's looking more like neo-pro Cavendish and less like M-SR winner Cavendish.

Still, he got 11 wins as a non-climbing neo-pro, so I'm confident he'll rack up a few over the season, but he can't win if he isn't contesting finishes and if he doesn't find some climbing form soon he isn't going to contest many finishes at the Tour de France, let alone the World Championships.

Im truly amazed by Sagan

Paris Nice was one thing when no one knew about him really but at Romandie hes just blown me away because everyone is probably on better form than Paris Nice and knows how dangerous he can be and yet he beats very respectable names in the sprint

He must just be one of those really rare ultra naturally talented people and best of luck to him but the possibilites are endless he just needs to be handled corectly by his team and support staff

He did zero training in the winter, that's why. The dental problem is just an extra excuse.

nice little girlfriends and a bit too much fame make for a bad winter ...

How can this be? We all know that the only reason he did not win this year's MSR was because of bad luck. Greipal was not allowed to do the race because he might lose wheels and cost the mighty Cavendouche the win. I just don't understand.

Yes, I'm starting to think that stardom has effected the Manxman's focus.
The climb he got blown out on was ridden at a relaxed tempo, until the final km.
That small bus was mostly comprised of BMC Giro and Shack/Astana third teamers.
One win and we are going into May. He still looks too chunky midsection.
California had better supply all his answers...........

I mean, this is just stupid...why can't these two rivals compete against each other??

Of course, in today's Romandie stage, Greipel would have been able to stay in the peleton to the end!

Oh, I picked the winner. Hooray for me!

I don't think there would be a competition with the form Cav has just now:rolleyes:

Cav could be a lead out man--assuming he can actually make it to the finale.

Got the impression you weren't a Cav fan:D

This could turn out very messy for HTC. If Greipel bags up in Italy and Cav continues to bomb what gives? I'm sure Greipel will come out and say he is the man for the Tour but HTC will still stick with Cav I'm sure. But what pressure and how long will the team stay motivated if he isn't delivering?

Even if Cav can get some form together on the flat surely any Green jersey hopes are gone already.

Cav is basing his season around the TDF and World's.

It doesn't surprise me he's struggling.

However, If he's like this in June, then there will be some doubts of the TDF.

It's April, July and October are still months away. Providing he gets his form for July, August, September and October, that's where it counts. Not now.

Where the heck was Bobridge? With his track and time trial experience I had him pegged as the mesiah and overall winner!! :D

Leadout for Hunter, or couldn't handle the pace on the flat? :p

Was Cav the only sprinter to miss out? What a slug.

BMC at the BOTTOM of the teams classification... Is it possible that they may enter one rider into the Giro, the others would probably be better handing out food and water on the side of the road.

If you are going to be naive like that then look at yesterday's team classification.

Beyer was in the break today and is sprint leader. But I guess that is pretty crap as especially as Frank, Moos and I'm pretty sure Louder aren't even doing il Giro!

Today's stage is going to be fun. Those 1st Category climbs are 0,9km with average slope of 12,5%. Can Cavendish survive that?

Annoying graphic over the finish line, does anyone know if its flat or goes up?

From what i can see i assume it goes up and so i would go with either sagan or valverde

Cav will be dropped on a speed bump some where

last 3km are flat

but La Lorette is really steep, don't think many sprinters will make it to the finish in the front group. Roche my favorite for today. He came from behind yesterday and was the fastest in the end

Cav should be OK for the tour, just needs more miles in his legs. As for Greiple he would make a decent leadout man for Sagan next year.

Ben Swift got a top 10 yesterday I'm certain this guy will step up at some stage and start grabbing plenty of wins but I go with Sagan for this stage.

Why would Greipel want to become a leadout man?

he already has done the job as leadout man.

i dont think he has the class when up against other top quality sprinters so why not stick to what you are fairly good at?
