Looks like it... Are the final km dead flat?

The last few are, but they come after a tricky and narrow descent. It's not impossible that a late move could stick.

cavendish dropped. renshaw with him, will probably get back on.

He's with a pretty sizeable group, he ought to get back on. That climb will certainly have sapped the legs of a lot of riders.

Cavendish already lost 1:20 on the climb.

Do not think we'll see him back

Why do I find pleasure in this?? Says somethingg about me maybe?

Did Columbia really send the entire team back to try to chase Cav on, and leave Pinotti on his own? I'm one of the biggest Cav fans on these boards and even I think that's stupid.

[edit] They just panned through the peloton, there is ONE Columbia domestique right at the back of the pack, Pinotti is alone up front.

Wow, so Cav got shelled even though the average speed is below the slowest projections (38 km/h is what i think the commentators said)... That's really weak. A part of me wants to see his continued struggle, since the flat-ish Giro/Tour stages the last two years were really no fun at all when Cav/Columbia were owning. But this isn't even entertaining anymore, just sad... I hope he can pick it up.

How was he impressive when he couldn't close the gap to a 19-year old kid who has been in the break the whole day?

You mustn't have seen it. He took a goldfish in a plastic bag from someone in the crowd, swallowed it and puked it out again, all on the bike.
