Nordhaug replaced by Brown... some mysterious Norwegian illness again?

I am not sure what you are trying to say here, but the reason he is not starting is a minor knee injury. Will debut in Haut Var instead. Will also ride MSR btw.

It was a quip about those strange ailments that EBH, Hushovd, and Nordhaug tend to have.

Anyway, knee trouble is never good.

Taaramäe just posted on his blog that the reason why he didin't show up for the start of the race is that he has picked up a stomach virus.

I don't think it's anything serious, it's probably just caused by the change of bike. He already feels better after a couple of rest days so I imagine he'll be completely healed by Haut Var.

50km left, gap 3:05
Will Routley (Accent Jobs-Wanty), Théo Vimpère (BigMat-Auber 93) et Thomas Vaubourzeix (La Pomme Marseille)

Low quality break. Unless Greipel falls off his bike it should be a done deal.

Andy Schleck in his usual position: alone, behind the peloton...

This is going to be a tough one for him, there are 42 km left to go. But apparently there are 5 other riders with him, among them Nicolas Vogondy

It is not a surprise though. From Tour Down Under it was clear that he is physically unable to finish a short to average distance race in the peloton

nobody claims it's a surprise and that's what's most pathetic about it

The real question is, who will drop out first? Hushovd vs. Schleck, head-to-head.

Andy looking best for that competition at the moment :(

But still he rides now, and i certainly hope he will find some form later in the season.

Probably just for Liege and the Tour

It is obvious he is way behind on his condition, and to get it back he has to race ... seems pretty normal to me

It's not normal to still not be able to follow a peloton on the flat after all this time. This is the third stage race he starts after his injury and he doesn't seem to be improving at all.

When was the last time he was at 100%? That's the point why people are dissapointing. And I'm not gonna accept his crash at Dauphine because it was pretty clear he was completely off-form 3 weeks before the TdF.

Look at Valverde, he came back after two years and was competitive since day one. And he had to wait to August, before the Vuelta he was still behind his best.

Liege and Tour de France... 2014;) And the injury is not everything, there is a trend since he went away from Saxo. Like, it's "his" team and anybody has authority on him. And he does what he wants.

Tour 2011?

You're right about the crash, he did absolutely nothing before the crash last season and that included LBL.

It is painful to watch such a talent turn into a wastrel :(

Either his injury is still too serious, and he needs to recover rather than race, or he needs to man up and stay in the peloton. He already rode the Tour of Beijing last year, how far out of shape can you get?

Maybe he is demoralized by Franks suspension? Has he given an interview since then?

Bunch sprint coming. 5km or so.
Ticker lists the following sprinters:

Turgot, Belletti, Pichon, Hushovd, Oss, Hondo, Nizzolo, Fernandez, R. Kreder, Brown, Feillu, Bole, Pelucchi, Napolitano, Giraud, Bacquet, M. Drujon ou encore M. Gavazzi

and then we have Greipel.

Will be "exciting" to see how many bike lengths Greipel wins by.
