Well that should shut him up. :p
 Damm i thought he was (Cycling News start list said he was).

:D I haven't had a chance to cheer for him for a while and although i don't think he can win the Giro- it will be nice to cheer for him throughout the year.

Well he already rode for Accent-Wanty last year and got one win the whole year, a stage at Driedaagse. After that he got a few podium spots in the late season.

They initially wanted to let him go but then re-signed him last minute

I know that but he didn't race a lot after his injuries last year and he did indeed sign rather late, didn't participate in Tropicale so he must not have raced a lot lately..and the get second in a bunch sprint ain't bad...

Ah, didn't know he had injuries... well, let's hope for a better season for him this year with more success

Okay. That start list makes a lot more sense than the one at the front-page, which had Sebastian Lander in the race. Thing is; Sebastian just did the Tour of Qatar, so unless he's got a time-machine he'd be hard pressed to start in this race.

Sicard could use a win after so many difficult seasons. Ahh he's caught now... Hopefully Hushovd or Degenkolb can take the bunch sprint, if it comes down to it.

I think the days of Hushovd winning bunch sprints are long gone

40 riders isn't a bunch. Hushovd can still beat lower quality fields in selective courses. He has won WT sprints last season too.

Betancur finished two days in the first group. He has 5 more weeks for Milan - San Remo. I think he will be a main contender again in the classics..

Stage 3(a):

thumb_uc_200805_506_Hoehenprofil_Tour_Mditerranen_Cycliste_Professionnel_2014_-_Etappe_3.jpg

Starts at 9:20 (CET) and ends around 11:00.

Maybe the Poppel brothers can do something against the confident Degenkolb, but I doubt it.

The hill? About 220m over 6km. Gentle.

and tomorrow the triple with the swedish machine

If Ludvigsson wins the ITT tomorrow I will be impressed, he is up against tougher competition this time. Think he can make top 5.

Btw, Phinney ftw. Don't think those climbs are hard enough to stop Phinney tomorrow.

Looks quite hilly judging by this picture, but with no height scale it's hard to say...useless profile, really.

There is a height scale on the profile on page 1. My estimate is that the first climb is about 3k at 4 %, and the second climb about 4k at 3 %.

There are almost no flat parts in this ITT.

4 km uphill (Côte de St. Rémy de Provence)
3,3 km downhill/flat
4 km uphill (Sommet des Baux de Provence)
2,6 km downhill (very small, windy road)
3,4 km flat

The climb to Les Baux was classified as Cat. 2 in 2012 apparently
