A bit more info in our newspaper today.

Gesink said he could have limited the damage to about 30 seconds, but didn't see the use of it as he isn't going for the GC. He also said it's fine that Van den Broeck went so fast up to mountain, "everyone has his own way of preparing".
And also said he is likely to test himself in 1 of the stages this week. My guess is apart from the time trial he'll try to do good in 1 of the mountain stages this weekend.

Also after the Dauphine he follows a 12 day altitude camp in Suisse (St Moritz)

No, he'll totally aim for one of the sprinting stages :D

Be realistic, he lost time in the last Km. Wait for the real mountains to come later this weekend.

Contador lost time in the final km on Etna compared to the chasing group. Does that mean he sucks?

No, that's just common sense since he was on the attack since km 6. Jvdb definitely is the underdog favorite for the overall at the Dauphiné. The red hot favorite? No, I think that's Cuddles or Vino.

Are you comparing Etna with this stage? Namely, steepness, length, etc. LOL

Was it really that hard to understand for you?

Oh boy. Might want to read a little bit further if your brain can handle that.

As for your silly question, no I'm not comparing the climbs, but the situation.

Yes, he did. He had about 15 seconds on Rodriguez, Evans and Vino at the start of the final km, correct? He ended with 6 seconds on Rodriguez? So he lost 9 seconds on 1 km, right?

-But he was also trying to zip his jersey 100 meters before the finish, while you could see Rodriguez in the background still going full steam.
-he countered 2 attacks in the breakaway
-he attacked himself and had to fight the chasing group off on the flat
-the guys that did the final km faster than him, hadn't done anything up to that point, as it was Ben Hermans doing all the work in the chasing group.

For reference: How many seconds did Gilbert put on other so called TDF favorites in far less than 1 km in Amstel, LBL, FW...? So him losing "merely" 9 seconds, while trying to zip his shirt, against the likes of Rodriguez on a one km climb after a respectable effort which the others didn't have to make, seems rather trivial to be perfectly honest.

Hmmm...comparing apple and oranges? Talk to me when JVB get a win and a gap in any of the weekend stages.

Talk to me when Jrod doesn't finish second to an Omega-Pharma-Lotto guy.

at least the make the final, let alone the tournament ;)

I rather not make it to the tournament than have to swallow the dissapointment about losing the final. For the third time in a row. With tasteless football :D

But still you're proud of a guy who doesn't even make top 3 in the TdF? So you would rather see him not even trying?
Now you're just being stupid...

(I agree about the tasteless football though, holland should be better than that)

He can try, but I already said here I'd rather see him win the Dauphiné :p

I'm not all that proud of him by the way, it's just a cyclist :D

But I should warn you that I don't care about football, so I really don't mind not making it to a tournament. Pays less on those taxes you know :p

In that case you're lucky: the Red Devils don't make it to any tournament, ánd play tasteless football.

I must have dreamed the world cup where Belgium was there and Holland not? :p

No, but I don't watch football except finals of big tournaments.

You mean 30-odd years ago?

No, but I don't watch football except finals of big tournaments.
Ah, in that case you've never seen Belgium play. Now I understand.
