Congrats Viviani, Those roads were ridiculously narrow. Obviously that place put in a lot of money to host :D

Yep, doesnt matter if its a ludicrously inappropriate location for a bike race, just show us the money!

That finish was always gonna be way too grippy for Cav

Nice win by Viviani!

How difficult is the finish tomorrow? Judging from the profile it is quite a bit steeper than today, but than again, today was easy enough to be contested by the pure sprinters. Any chance Viviani can win again tomorrow? Or is it more of a wall?

Not sure, but I'll wager there's a cattle grid in there somewhere ;)

Same finish - http://cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=6376 (Serov and Cav were the last survivors from the breakaway). Edit - Video taken 200m before the finish line.

I think it's too hard for Viviani.

Nice little sprint, but really the roads invites to much more than a group ride in the country side. Hopefully we will get more serious action in the next few stages.

Viviani is a great rider for any team. He gets lots of small wins with few support and that really helps the team to stay focused and motivated. Saxo could really use someone like him to take the pressure off the real leaders.

We will, the GC won't really be decided until the stages to Caerphilly and then Haytor though.

What wonderful weather they have in Britain today...

As one of our commentators just put it:

"Giro, wet roads, Wiggins..."

I guess with no radio communication, Madrazo has no way of knowing that Quintana is coming up from behind...?

Nope, I'm surprised that Movistar haven't got a car up front with the break.

Magnus saying roads cannot be closed by law here - how did London-Surrey manage it?

scotland and england almost entirely different legal systems...not sure if that's connected in this instance, but what you can legally do in london has little natural bearing on what you can do in scotland

Quintana and Martin get to front group and straight away they along with Madrazo break away from the rest.
