These have been my first ever posts on this forum starting yesterday and I think that they will be my last - I can't be bothered to sift through all the inane comments to find something worth reading.

Farewell, cruel world.

In the TdF as well this year there were all those crashes on narrow roads - partly due to the terrain I guess but also maybe the authorities not wanting the race on main roads.

More to do with the authorities not wanting the race on any road that might potentially cause any action until the all-important third week.

Epic cornering FAIL from Garmin, left Boom with no one to beat.
Wouldn't have been so bad, except they'd already been around it once.
Lars about to make positive CQ numbers.............

Well done Boom - smart racing and he has obviously studied the race book well.

I guess if a Brit isn't going to win a Dutchie is a good alternative.

Assuming he doesnt deck up the ITT horribly but I think he will own it.

Yeah, just seen that. Gutted for Bibby - he was obviously in good form.

Definitely. Along with Tiernan Locke he's been the best of the British of the "local" riders. At least he had enough time to show himself. Geraint was caught up in the crash. Judging from the fact that he finished at the head of the chase group, he was not seriously affected. But in that case, why wasn't he in the front group?

Boom seems to have this sewn up now.

West-south-west wind tomorrow so there will be the potential for cross-winds to split the peloton. Imagine Sky will give it a go.

I doubt it'll work. Cav is usually alert enough to not get caught out by things like that, and the Dutch are the masters of the crosswind, no way Boom will get left behind there.

Ergo, I don't think it'll win them the stage, nor the (overall) GC. But they're welcome to try. Crosswind stages are always good.

Not so much studying the race book as being the best bike handler in this bunch.

Some day we continentals will teach you the secret on how to build straight roads. But not before we updated your ancient metric system.

You can be as arrogant as you want. In one area the Dutch are known to be more 'known' than Belgians. Even your beloved commentators start about it every time there is a crosswind.

And now don't go search up some example of Belgians owning in a crosswind. You know very darn what I mean. Whenever there is a crosswind the Dutch get mentioned first. Eg. They are most renowned for it. That was the point moondance was referring to.

Why don't you guys win the Tour of Qatar then? It's the world championship echelon riding. Or the Tour of Belgium this year with practically every stage crosswinds.

Please read the 2nd sentence before you react next time.

Ok pumpkin? It's tiresome when people stop reading entire posts because they get so annoyed they immediately react (and wrongly so)

(and again I predicted you're behaviour right as well, even said so in the post... funny as hell)

Still doesn't make it true. If I had to name guys who are good in crosswinds, most would be Belgian. Especially considering most races with crosswinds are Belgian :p

Dude, it IS true, every ****ing time I turn on the BELGIAN tv and there is a race with crosswind they can't help but mention how good/renowned the dutch are for it. They don't even mention the Belgian.... \

It doesn't matter if it is actually the case... it's about who is most known for it...
Sometimes I really wonder if you are blind and deaf at the same time or simply don't understand simple things

You so often keep missing the actual point of a discussion. Especially when Belgians are involved.

Before that, road surfaces that dont fall apart in a mild frost would be good.

I have just had a new floor in my house and it is less smooth than D roads in the French Alps:mad:

Erm, that's just not true. Michel Wuyts starts to talk about Boonen automatically when he hears the word crosswind.

I'm afraid we Belgians can't help you with that :p

Unless you want crappy roads and cobbles of course.

Wuyts usually starts talking about Boonen automatically whenever he hears any of the words "crosswind", "cobble", "hill", "cycling", "race", "championship", "competition", "luncheon meat", "cocaine", "underage" or "euphoric trance" though.

Turning this into a yes/no game this way..

And "that is simply no true" is not an argument, I've heard Wuyts + Renaat + even nationalistic Karl say it.

Lets agreet to disagree again or we will ruin this topic.

You forgot Madrid. I swear, every single time the Vuelta finishes in Madrid they talk about Boonen. They talk about it so much that I know what day De Cauwer's birthday is.

25 September.

And I would also add Cancellara. Even if it's a time trial, Boonen will get mentioned :p
