You're quite right. I loathe dull, predictable cycling. Even though the Sky performance was impressive, it was typically predictable - hence, Eurosport's commentary team correctly calling the winner 40kms from the line. The stage was featureless and devoid of any interest. Today's stage promises much of the same. I'll catch the last 30 seconds tomorrow which should tell me all I need to know. Hopefully, the next few days can redeem the dullness so far.

Surely this is an issue with sprint stages rather than an issue with the ToC? As sprint stages go, yesterday's one was pretty entertaining, a lot of high speed jostling for position for quite a few kms.

If you don't like the food, don't eat. It could not be easier to not watch cycling races. Billions of people do it every day. If you don't like sprint stages, fine, but don't watch them and then complain because they are sprint stages.

One thing that struck me yesterday is how little support Thor had up there in the end. He can't be happy about that. Looking at the team they have I think JVS is the only guy that would be there to support him.

Wise words. Maybe someday we'll get ToC stage thread without the negativity. Maybe someone should just start a hating thread.

He did look isolated, but he managed to get himself in a good position even so. He just didn't have the legs in the sprint. I guess Garmin are more focused on GC for this race, although they had half their squad behind the split in the peloton.

LOL. I guess that I deserved that! I'm far more motivated by 'cross and the Classics. It's hard to sit quetly in the corner between May and September! :)

Should have been on Swift's. Goss/Hushovd are off form.

Is no wonder Swift doing well in the beginning on this race , he has not been on a race break and did well in Tour of Romandi. Both Goss and Hushovd have been on a break after the spring classics season, and I bet both those two riders will be much better at the end of the race than at the start.

Unless it´s an uphill finish or small group Hushovd been off from for years

funny, I hope you're going over to the Giro threads and making the same comments...

I just flicked on the Giro in the hotel room. Long break, gonna get caught, finish as a sprint. Cav's gonna win, by the way.

Seriously, why the hate? I saw the finishing circuit on the replay and the last 10K's looked more interesting than a lot of races which end in a sprint.

edit: maybe we need to wear helmet cams so you can see scared, fast euros slamming on their brakes in wet corners? It was certainly more than enough excitement for me...

I don't see how he can complain. His team got him into a perfect position and he then wasn't fast enough.

To be fair to him, it's hardly surprising that he's not at the top of his game given that he hasn't raced in a while, but yesterday the fault was with Thor's legs not the efforts of his team. They did their job, he didn't do his.

Please, trolls gunna troll. This forum is no different. Trolling is a lot like copyright claim. If someone uses your brand name (or IP etc etc) you have to enforce your copyright, otherwise you lose it. Same goes for trolling: if you miss an opportunity to troll, you lose your trolling rights.
