Have you seen the absolute dog*** TV2 puts out when they produce their own cycling broadcasts??? We literally couldn't see who was where before they reached the circuit during the national championships...

The difference probably is that DR actually hires people who specialize in cycling. I believe they contract a Belgian (I think) company to produce the broadcast. On TV2 you get someone with a drone, and two motorcyclists with iphones, and a person on a laptop.

Yet still better than what DR pulled...
Yeah, I'm still grumpy about the BS they pulled about putting the ITT on the schedule together with the Orientation-run when they could just as easily have put the two events on the schedule separately.

It takes 1 guy from the organization to just tell them how to do it properly, also it's the organizers going with that TV company (sure they don't have a lot of choice but still).

Also this is being broadcasted everywhere basically as it's on Eurosport/Max/HBO (whatever the name is now)? They even missed the finish of a random Danish guy who had the best performance of his life.

No excuses for this.
Doesn’t matter how widely it is being broadcast around the world because other countries are just getting the same feed from the host broadcaster. And the host broadcaster in smaller countries are likely to focus on what they think is best for their home audience. It’s not like the Olympics where there are 14 different feeds and each country’s broadcaster can show the ones they want to suit their audience.

Why are we acting like this happens in TTs in other countries? Of course there's often a national preference in what they are showing, that's not even what this is about. There is absolutely 0 excuse for showing Nikias Larsen getting on just sitting on his bike before the start for 2 minutes straight while there's others finishing or setting an intermediate time.

Still quite harsh to say the race should be taken off the calendar.

If Lidl-Trek hadn't said before the Tour of Denmark that they were interested in sharing the successes between them during the race, then I would have said that yes, the strongest rider in the TT won. But they did say so. So I'm not sure that Söderqvist was actually the strongest. I think it's just as likely that his victory was due to Mads Pedersen thinking it was okay for the Swede to win the stage, as long as no competitors in the GC got closer to the leader's jersey. This also fits with the fact that Mads P was level with Söderqvist halfway through, but lost time at the end. Incidentally, the Dane did not seem particularly exhausted in the minutes after the individual time trial, judging by the TV pictures.

There's no way he nearly lost all his advantage over Niklas Larsen on purpose. He simply started out too fast, but since it was only a 15 minute effort he wasn't exactly dead afterwards.

One of the biggest problems with the Tour of Denmark: It's not the startlist quality as such, but the fact that the quality is often unevenly balanced. Like when Evenepoel destroyed the race in 2021. Lidl-Trek's dominance in 2023 and Team Saxo Bank's dominance earlier are other examples.
Yup. Add to that that many top sprinters often come here under the guise that it's sprinter friendly. But they always end up losing 15-20 minutes in Vejle and 5 minutes on another hilly stage. So you have like.. 50 sprinters, 30 lead out men and a bunch of riders specialized in flat time trials.

I'd like to see a few more puncheurs, classics riders.. and why not even climbers here? Someone who can challenge the Amstel Gold winner and the Ronde runner-up on parcours that are perfectly suited for them.

Take a look at top 50 in Amstel. None of them are really here.

You'd think they'd have figured it out by now...
If I were the organizers, I would just brand it as a rival to the Renewi Tour to attract more puncheurs and GC riders. 3 hilly stages, a flat one and a time trial is the perfect formular.

I've heard thet have partnered with Fredericia for three years which would make the Vejle stage even more hilly and intense. A Fredericia - Vejle stage can easily give you 2500 meters of elevation.

Anyway. Now that's a proper podium set-up!
