Final GC

Forgot the stage finished at a different time even with the reminder on here and was pottering around the house doing some cleaning, missed the entire finale ffs
It wasn't that interesting.

Beginning of the climb a high pace was set by UAE, which dropped riders one by one. When they were done there were only 5 riders left so Yates attacked and only Paret-Peintre could follow. Paret-Peintre then attacked and dropped Yates, but eventually Yates and Gaudu were able to come back. They stalled a bit and it seemed others were coming back on the part of the climb with lower gradients, but eventually Yates increased the pace again which dropped Gaudu. In the last hundred meters Paret-Peintre sprints for victory.

Strong showing of VPP, wasn´t expecting that. Gaudu also with a decent finish but was not able to go so deep as last time. Yates and UAE showing again that not all riders at this team are superhumans. Diserved GC win but far off from super dominant.

Cian 51 seconds down in this kind of stage finish. I thought this type of stage will suit him better then the finish on monday, but he performed worse. Still a long way to go for him if he wants to be competitive in stage races again.

We'll see. VPP is such a climbing specific rider, though. BOC has podiumed or Top 5d in each GT. (Improbably, I'll admit)
Ben is an excellent rider but Valentin is younger with a lot more scope to improve. He'd be a French leader on a French team and for me their best (albeit tiny) chance at the next French TDF winner as it stands.

Again? When has he done better? This seems to be Uijtdebroeks' level, he can keep grinding a decent pace but he can't follow accelerations and he has no sprint. His strength seems to be his endurance, but in the Tour of Oman that part isn't really tested.
