Makes me wonder if Sagans starting. He didnt do the TDU and isnt doing Quatar. When is he going to get his season started. Maybe hes going to do this to get some climbing into his legs?

I think that for Farnese Vini the candidate for the overall will be Sinkewitz, a definite dark horse for this race. That climb is a little too much for Visconti.

I think the climb is somewhat too steep and long for vino. Should be between Purito, Menchov and Gesink..

I think one of the most interesting parts of the whole situation will be those three getting to the climb. Menchov obviously is not the world's best bike handler, Gesink is often seen on the ground and Purito is a true flyweight. I hope that we see some winds rip the race apart and as a result are treated to climbers needing to attack the others on the climb to make up time/win.

However, this is a race in February, so I doubt any of the riders will be especially bothered if they end up on the bottom half of the standings.

Haha, yes Menchov has the odd to start lying on the asphalt and Gesink likes to dive in each hole he can find. But still, its a nice training atleast to get somewhat in form. As for wind, Gesink is dutch and we dutchies always have a lot of wind here, so doubt that will trouble him . Though Menchov failed with the wind in the TdF of 2009 >_>

Since this is his last season I think that Vino is going for all this year... OFC w/o burning himself in the attempt... But David Blanco and Sinkewitz will be 2 men to check...

last year Sagan was in the first group at Paris Roubaix until he punctured and was second at the junior version 2008

Oss was very good in the classics last year but I think Sagan has at least the same potential.

I didn't know Sagan rode Paris-Roubaix... Let alone that he did pretty reasonably. My mistake.

Liquigas need to ride for the younger (and much cheaper on CQ) Caruso, since he's in my CQ team. Oss pinched 3rd spot from him at Calabria. Naughty.

I wonder if Qatar is where Phinny might go for something. That 2km prologue looks like something a pursuit rider could shine in... it's half the distance of the track event.

Wouldn't be shocked if he was wearing the leader's jersey after stage 1.

I don't know if they'd ride for him in the sprints since Kristoff is there... but Phinney had a couple of top 10 sprint finishes at Qatar last year.

Seems like Oman has a few too many climbs for Phinney, unless he's improved significantly from last year. Might be able to get a nice place in the TT, but not the overall I'd think.
