last year Sagan was in the first group at Paris Roubaix until he punctured and was second at the junior version 2008

Oss was very good in the classics last year but I think Sagan has at least the same potential.

Second to Andy Fenn who will also be riding this year for An Post

I wonder if Qatar is where Phinny might go for something. That 2km prologue looks like something a pursuit rider could shine in... it's half the distance of the track event.

Wouldn't be shocked if he was wearing the leader's jersey after stage 1.

I don't know if they'd ride for him in the sprints since Kristoff is there... but Phinney had a couple of top 10 sprint finishes at Qatar last year.

Seems like Oman has a few too many climbs for Phinney, unless he's improved significantly from last year. Might be able to get a nice place in the TT, but not the overall I'd think.

Phinney aint there.........

MONFORT to lead Leopard Trek in Oman:

With Fuglsang as a team mate, probably Cancellara and Posthuma as well. Nice to see Monfort get his chance already so early in the season, I hope he can get a nice result!
Look back a few pages in this thread, Wielerland mentioned that more than a week ago. Almost immediately after the start list was released, in fact.

Hey, Taylor...

As a UCI-licensed team, you were likely officially called a pro at Trek-Livestrong. Therefore you made your pro debut in 2009.

If we are talking pro debut as in début at the highest level (i.e. ProTour) then the Tour of Oman is not a race at that level. Besides, you already rode the Tour of Qatar last year, and Oman is not a step up from that.

If you're talking pro début as in début at one of the top-level teams, then you must have forgotten about the Post Danmark Rundt, which you rode for Radioshack last year. It is, also, a higher-rated event than Qatar or Oman, being .HC instead of .1.

So, by every definition, you're wrong.

Does Phinney even say that it is his pro debut? As far as I can see, only the journalist claims so, while Phinney mentions nothing similar.

If it's the journalist I should be bagging, not Phinney, then fair enough, I apologise to Taylor.

I didn't bother reading the interview. I'm just not very interested in Taylor Phinney, and on those rare occasions that I do pay attention he's busy tweeting like a thirteen-year-old girl.

You've just given us a complete rundown of his appearances in pro races, so for someone who's not interested in Phinney you've been paying a lot of attention.

Well Done Liberitine! You just showed your anti anglo attitude again! If you think being super picky about little things is worth a post then I feeel sorry for you.

Or, alternatively, I just went to the riders page of CQ, and typed in "Phinney".

Says the guy who brings up that BMC had a guy in an escape group of over 20, or that one of their riders managed 18th in a sprint. You should know by now that I'm a hopeless pedant, and have picked out logical inaccuracies regardless of a rider's origin. Or maybe some people are happier to just vaguely recollect and remember facts as you want to remember them rather than as they were.

Considering the amount of hype that is placed on Taylor's young shoulders, you'd think he'd remember a few things about his young career.

You actually did some research to teach someone you don't care about (and who doesn't care about you, nor will he ever read this) a lesson?

When you put it like that... yes. Yes, I did.

I'd rather be an idiot for hunting out facts for something ultimately meaningless than an idiot for bathing in my own ignorance in something that winds up being important.

I seem to remember young Taylor retracting his comments a few weeks later after realising the **** storm he had created.

lol, Matthews thinks he has business in Flanders already!

Matthews has business plenty o places, but Flanders isn't one of them. Sagan could do decent at Flanders, but I'm still not convinced that he can handle the distance of a long classic like Msr or Flanders. This could easily have changed since last year, but I'm not gonna believe it until I see it...

Why is Cancellara not pinning #1 to his jersey?

Edit: looks like all teams are numbered in reverse order here, with the leader at the bottom and the alphabet proceeding from Z to A above.

A few oddities confuse matters - naming Lars Ytting Bäk with Ytting as the surname, or ignoring the "van" in Kevin van Impe.
