For example you said you created a Hushoft website back before the greens and the rainbows and you seem to be like Steve Ebh too.

HUSHOFT?
Fer cryin out loud! He's the reigning world champ, in a sport you follow with dedication, and his name doesn't even register with you??? Sacrilege!

I clearly remember the boxer Mohammed Abu, or, as he was previously known, Cassius Claw.
Jeezuz.

It wasnt we, who started calling a average Dutch talent "THE GREAT Bauke Mollema" ;)

And then when poor ACF tries something similar with Kristoff, the Dutchies are, in an instant, before you have time to say "its only a warmup race", out in force taunting him every time little Alexander fails to beat Cavendish in a sprint.

You guys shouting "poor Dutchies" is like when John Gotti tried to say they were persecuting him because he was italian  :p

and i use that example deliberately.

He got 10th in a 54 km flat TT in the Tour de France.

You guys with these results... Ever heard of an anomaly? Rasmussen was a horrible time trialist. Plus he was 11th in that TT. Know your facts.

That post was probably a joke, everyone knows Rasmussen had 'slight troubles' when it cames to TT'ing. :)

Of course I know he sucked. The legendary TT with the crashes and bike changes is unforgettable. But that one result was pretty impressive (probably aided by some of that not-to-be-mentioned stuff).

And as for supporting ones fellow countrymen: you don't root for your country in the world cup? Just saying.

In the World Cup, players are representing their countries.

Cristiano Ronaldo is representing Portugal, Lionel Messi is representing Argentina, Mesut Özil is representing Germany, and so on.

The rest of the time, they're representing their clubs.

It is the same with cycling. Most of the time Alberto Contador isn't representing Spain, he is representing Saxo Bank. Some teams are quasi-national (Euskaltel spring to mind), but for the most part they are not. Even in the Worlds, they are representing their country, but it's more about the individuals - Norway didn't win the 2010 Worlds, Thor Hushovd did. Therefore it's more about whether or not you like Thor Hushovd than whether or not you are Norwegian.

@ Libertine seguros

I do get the feeling the people in Spain are all rooting for Contador (even the prime minister :)), despite him riding for Astana or Saxo Bank. Nevertheless, I also get your point. I was just trying to understand the Phenomenon.

Yes it was an anomaly
And I think Gesink's Suisse and TDF 2010 TT's were anomalys
Get it?

Usually, or better, before that, he used to finish top 20 and even a decent amount of times top 10 in time trials

Oscar Perreiro came 3rd in a 60k time trial when he won.

But you do tend to support Scandinavian riders dont you?

For example you said you created a Hushoft website back before the greens and the rainbows and you seem to be like Steve Ebh too.

Well, I support mostly Swedish and Norwegian riders. I'm half norwegian. My mother is from Norway and my father is from Sweden and growing up I spent quite a bit of time in Norway as well eventhough I grew up in Sweden.

I support Hushovd since I've been following his career since 1998 and Arvesen since 1997 which is when I started watching cycling. I've followed EBH since he was like 16-17 years old as well.

I don't follow all swedes and norwegians blindly. For example I don't have any perticular feelings about Wilmann, not even when he turned pro at Skil. While Rasch has been around for as long as I've followed cycling but I wouldn't say that I have much vested interest in him either, at least not any more than other riders on teams I like.

I don't have any specific interest in danish riders for example. They could just as easily be dutch or german as far as I'm concerned. The same can almost be said about finnish riders too but they are so few that you tend to know them fairly well anyway. I would say that I follow Veikkanen more than Carlström at the moment. Veikkanen rode for an old swedish team that even turned TT3 in 2002, Team Mälarenergi, so Veikkanen rode a lot on the swedish domestic circuit.

I like your perseverance. You make a good argument.
I maybe overstated it a little, Gesink isn't horrible at TT, he's just not really good at it.

At least I'm looking forward to the time trial now! :)

You should start a list. I have a list of all the variations of Löfkvists name I see in here. It's nine variations long so far and only four of those can be said to be correct or close enough to count as correct.

How do you do that "view single post" thing?

And ingsve. when you say spelling mistakes for lovfckqwvist do you include not having the umlaut as a mistake?

I count that as one of the 9 variations but it's one of the four that I consider correct. And eventhough that was a joke I will add it as a 10th just for the heck of it.

Oh...and you click the post number up at the top right.

You won't find me cheering for, let's say a name, Pieter Weening. Even if he wins.

I only like Dutch riders if they have some kind of personality or charisma.

then why cheer for gesink??
