Hagen's done well on the shorter power climbs but this is a bit more than that. Maybe everyone else tried to follow Gesink and blew up? Always possible that some where caught out by the bunch split but twitter indicated that Rodriguez was in the front half.

At a guess, gesink attacked maybe no one could go with him and no teams wanted to chase? Would be nice to see composition of top ten

I guess Gesink must of attacked from the bottom and he rode away solo with EBH winning the bunch sprint. Shame that nobody challenged Gesink.

Rofl ACF, too obvious provocation

You really think they let a guy like that ride away and nobody challenging him. :D

But there's hope, maybe some BMC rider made a top 20 you can celebrate

That assumes that there was someone capable of challenging Gesink.

Wtf I don't know what's more suprising

The difference between nr 1 and the rest (Gesink pulling 44 seconds on a 5,8km climb)

Or Hagen being second

Probably Hagen being second :D WHAT the fock

EBH far more surprising. Gesink was by far the best climber in the pack, considering Purito's poor form. Still a classy performance though. EBH will snatch the overall in the TT.

Well maybe you can show some consistency and pick up on others who said the exact same thing as me. I never said they let him go away. Obviously he was the best but the fact that EBH finished 2nd says that nobody else really had a go. I mean seriously, even if EBH was in strong form he would not finish 2nd on a climb like this unless it was ridden timidly.

Well if he pulls a Pais Vasco or Tirreno ITT out of the hat, he will hold it.

But if he pulls another Suisse or TDF. Then. Uhm. Evacuate? :D

Given the TT tomorrow Gesink was always going to attack at the bottom, if he had the legs, he needs as much time as possible.

Even a blind man could've seen that coming

Thank you, at least somebody will acknowledge that my presumption was fair.

people didn't question the bottom, you made it seem like no one tried afterwards. Seriously how did you miss that?

Could you stop talking down the achievements of anyone not on BMC? It's getting really annoying.

Come on dude... Even you have to admit that Greg van Avermaet's fourth place on stage 2 is way more impressive than Robert Gesink defeating the entire peloton on his own.

Ebh had 8 seconds on gesink before today if I'm right? So my by quick and rubbish maths it'll be 40 seconds between the two?

Yup, should be doable on a hilly course.

Also take in mind that they race the TT on normal bikes, not TT bikes. This could be a real advantage for Gesink.
