More hot racing this year. Previous to last year, the two editions were won by Pogacar. Then great racing by Filippo Zana to win last year, with Pogacar missing because of the broken wrist. This year Pog is resting after the Giro, so no races before the Tour. But there opens up the competition to others!

Notable GC mentions: Bilbao, Mohoric, Narvaez, Pozzovivo, Ulissi, Zana, Pellizzari, Storer, Morgado, Halland Johannessen, Carthy, Aleotti, Double, Foss, Healy
Notable sprinters: Groenewegen, Kristoff, Bauhaus, Viviani, Welsford, Leonardi

Live coverage: Eurosport/GCN+ alternative will be covering the race.

I think the field is much better than previous years, usually there would be 2 WT teams give or take, but this year there are 7 WT teams, including Bora, Ineos, EF, Groupama FDJ, besides the usual UAE, Bahrain and Jayco. Should be an interesting race with no clear favorite.

Considering the past few editions, this year is really good. Hard to say who is the real favorite. 7 WT teams is really nice, especially since the tour of Slovenia has to fight with the Dauphine, Suisse and the Belgium Tour. I hope in the future there will also be a women's version of the race. It feels like a missed opportunity given how big the cycling is now is Slovenia.

A lot of Giro guys trying to prolong their Giro form here. Tiberi and Fortunato weren't too successful doing that at the Dauphiné.

From the non-Giro people, THJ should be good. Will be interesting to see if Brieuc Rolland can hang with the pros, and if we'll see the random extraterrestrial version of Carr show up.

New additions to the startlist: the exciting Ben Healy, the mythical Mark Padun, and the always green Domenico Pozzovivo!

Now those are some cool last minute additions, Ben Healy can really make the race aggressive, and Pozzovivo can go for GC if he retained his Giro form, there is no ITT in this race.

Pozzovivvo will struggle on these punchy climbs. Healy could win a stage, however, he will find stage four hard.

Stage 4 should be good if GC contenders will be feeling it. I am just sorry that I am in Croatia right now. Would love to be positioned at Krvavec waiting for the final climb :)

Mezgec crashes with 25kms to go ans seems fairly banged up. Can he recover and lead out Groenewegen.

Though Kristoff had that, but it was close. And Groenewgen also without his main leadout man who crashed.

What happened to Piganzoli? Tiberi syndrome?

Stage was mostly flat, could've been a crash, technical, or maybe some other thing. But could also be just tired legs.
Also a DNF from Mark Padun. And also Paul Double, one of the better climbs, lost 23 seconds today for some reason.

Assuming that Mezgec has no broken bones, then I expect Jayco will pull him out of the race and prepare for the TDF, especially seeing Jayco have their stage win.
